Position Summary


The Director, Business Development is responsible for building a qualified pipeline from scratch, engaging senior executives, and leading complex, consultative sales pursuits. The ideal candidate combines strong outbound sales capability, executive credibility, and collaborative deal leadership.


TriVista’s team members represent the image and credibility of the firm. Their roles require regular communication with clients that include Private Equity investors, boards of directors, and corporate level executive team members. Excellent spoken and written communication skills are essential.


Responsibilities

  • New Business Development (Hunter Focus)
  • Lead enterprise level sales pursuits; land and expand share with manufacturing operating companies 
  • Identify, target, and engage manufacturing companies aligned to our ideal client profile 
  • Develop and execute proactive outbound strategies (cold outreach, networking, industry events, referrals, marketing tactics) 
  • Combine hunter–strategist skills to open doors and land sales wins
  • Translate complex needs into tailored, multi-service TriVista solutions
  • Build and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities 
  • Consistently achieve or exceed new revenue targets 
  • Provide feedback to leadership on market needs, competitive positioning, and service offerings 
  • Collaborate with practice leadership and marketing to provide input on marketing activities that support sales pursuits (e.g. industry insights in manufacturing trends like digital transformation, supply chain optimization, ERP modernization) 

Executive Engagement & Consultative Selling

  • Establish credibility with C-level and senior operations/IT leaders (COO, CIO, VP Operations, etc.) 
  • Lead discovery conversations to understand client challenges across operations, supply chain, and technology 
  • Position consulting services as strategic, outcome-driven solutions
  • Develop and present compelling proposals, business cases, and statements of work 

Sales Pursuit Leadership & Collaboration

  • Partner with TriVista practice leadership and subject matter experts to:
    • Shape solution strategies 
    • Develop tailored proposals 
    • Participate in client presentations 
  • Lead team-based sales pursuits from qualification through negotiations and close 
  • Coordinate across stakeholders to ensure a cohesive and differentiated client experience 
  • Disciplined use of Salesforce to track activities, manage pipeline, and maintain data integrity, with timely reporting on pipeline health, forecasts, and sales performance

Requirements

 Skills and Qualifications

  • 10+ years’ experience in B2B business development selling consulting services 
  • Proven track record of hunting and closing new logos and selling into large organizations (i.e. greater than $300M)
  • Strong understanding of operations, supply chain, or IT transformation
  • Understanding of manufacturing industry preferred
  • Advanced understanding and proficiency using the following software
    • MS Office Suite (including Excel, PowerPoint)
    • CRM system (Salesforce preferred)
    • Project management software 
    • Relevant sales tools (HubSpot preferred)
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and client relationship management skills
  • Proven experience building and leading relationships with key economic buyers across the C-suite
  • Possess exceptional interpersonal skills that build trust, confidence, and measurable results coupled with a strong executive presence
  • Ability to translate complex client challenges into tailored TriVista solutions by aligning the right service lines and SMEs
  • Demonstrated strategic thought process, experience, and deployment capabilities
  • Tangible and demonstrated experience in formal sales process deployment and use
  • Demonstrated experience in working as a productive member of a team 
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Experience with Business financials including P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash flow. Ability to track value creation initiatives to bottom line results
  • Ability to collaborate across traditional business functions and understand impact of business process changes across the organization
  • Strong project management methodology background, including schedule, scope, issue, and risk management experience, change management, planning, and analysis
  • Excellent financial and business acumen as well as operational analytical skills
  • Self-motivated with high initiative and drive to complete assignments on time with exceptional      quality
  • Excellent client engagement skills
  • Excellent presentation and written communication skills
  • Passionate attention to detail and accuracy
  • Highly organized and able to balance multiple priorities 
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and maintain attention to detail
  • Authorized to work in the US on a full-time basis

Education 

  • 4-year degree, preferably with a focus in business or related field, and/or combination of education and relevant experience
  • Lean and/or Six Sigma Certification or ability to obtain once employed 
  • MBA preferred 
Salary Description
$175,000-225,000 + Commission + Bonus
