Job Summary:

Pratt & Whitney India Engineering Center (IEC) is looking for a highly motivated Structures Engineer II to join our Aftermarket & Sustainment Engineering (ASE) Commercial Repairs team. This position involves analyzing repairs to ensure they meet original equipment manufacturing (OEM) requirements, supporting customer safety, cost, and reliability objectives.  ASE is uniquely linked between the engine development / certification and aftermarket and field support engine life cycles. This results in our repairs having a direct impact on the bottom line of Pratt & Whitney’s maintenance repair and overhaul revenue and success. The Structures Engineer closely interacts with fellow ASE engineers from structures, design, project, and program, to develop technical data to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost requirements.

What will you do?

Perform structural assessments of repairs to commercial engine components with minimal guidance.
Awareness of Integrated Product Development (IPD), Structures Engineering Knowledge System (EKS), and the Product Design Review process.
Support coordination of structural analysis requirements for repairs with other ASE technical disciplines and module centers/ Component Integrated Product Teams (CIPTs).
Participate on multi-disciplinary teams to develop design solutions that meet design and life requirements.
Work on structural analysis solutions with minimal guidance when historical solutions are not available or applicable. Analysis may include both classical methods and/or detailed Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
Support co-ordination with others to advance technology and improve engineering standard work processes/methods, plus document and present results to management and customers.

What will you learn?

Gain experience in structural assessments of commercial engine components while working on cutting-edge repair solutions.
Build expertise in Integrated Product Development (IPD), Structures Engineering Knowledge System (EKS), and the Product Design Review process.
Develop collaboration skills by working with multidisciplinary teams across technical disciplines and module centers.
Strengthen knowledge in advanced structural analysis methods, including Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
Gain understanding of manufacturing and repair processes and their impact on component integrity.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and implement innovative solutions.

Qualifications You Must Have:

2 to 8 years of experience with an Advanced degree in engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Materials Science, Metallurgy, or Production)

Qualifications We Prefer:

Strong Solid Mechanics fundamentals is essential
Understanding of low cycle fatigue and fatigue and fracture analysis theory and applications.
Fluent in ANSYS APDL/ Workbench. Fluency in any other FEA software is added advantage.
Experience using Pratt & Whitney/industry lifing systems: PWLIFE, ARLS, or crack growth (SURCK, Darwin, Franc3D) systems a plus.
Awareness of manufacturing and/or repair processes.
Background in turbomachinery with prior experience of working on structural assessment of aero engine/gas turbine components
Prior experience of working on Aftermarket repairs would be added advantage
Fluency in programming language like python, VBA etc. would be added advantage
Familiarity with Raytheon Technologies CORE Operating System
