The Vice President of Medical Affairs will serve as a key leader in shaping and executing medical strategies within the organization. This executive role is responsible for overseeing and guiding medical affairs activities, ensuring alignment with business goals, and contributing to the overall success of the medical department.
KEY RESPONSIBILITES
· Strategic Planning: Develop and execute strategic plans for medical affairs initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
· Clinical/Medical Leadership: Provide leadership in shaping clinical strategies, ensuring the highest standards of clinical practice within the organization.
· Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Product, Clinical Operations, and Commercial, to ensure seamless integration of medical affairs activities.
· Medical Affairs Oversight: Oversee medical affairs activities, including medical communications, publications, and interactions with healthcare professionals.
· Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory standards and guidelines in all medical affairs activities.
· Clinical Research: Provide medical guidance and support to clinical development teams, leading development of clinical research, presentations, and publications
· Budget Oversight: Manage budgets, resource allocation, and timelines for medical affairs projects.
· Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a key stakeholder in engaging with external partners, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders in the medical field.
· Perform other duties as assigned to support team and organizational objectives.
· Comply with all company policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
· Post-graduate degree in biological sciences
· Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in medical affairs leadership roles, demonstrating success in shaping medical strategies
· Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Preferred:
· MD, DO, PhD, or equivalent advanced degree in genetics, molecular biology, pathology, or related field, MS in genetic counseling considered
· 15+ years of experience of progressive experience in medical affairs leadership roles, demonstrating success in shaping medical strategies
· Deep expertise in clinical genetics, genomic testing, or molecular diagnostics, especially in rare genetic disease
· Strong understanding of clinical validation, evidence generation, and scientific communications
