Job description

Job Title: Manufacturing Operator (Paint, Coatings, Chemicals)

Location: 1800 N. Main St. Mt. Holly, NC 28120

Industry: Manufacturing (Paint, Coatings, Chemicals)

Schedule: 6:30am to 2:30pm Monday thru Friday (Occasional Weekends)

Salary: $25.00 Hourly (Depending upon experience)

Background: Candidates must be able to pass a Background Check & Drug Screen (No Exceptions)

Education: High School Diploma (Minimum)

Ideal Candidate: Ideal candidate will have 3 years Manufacturing experience. Paint, Coatings or Chemicals Manufacturing experience is highly preferred. At least 1 year Forklift Driving experience is required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Run all required equipment in a safe and efficient manner:

  • Pumps/ Agitators/ Shakers
  • Scales
  • Transporters/ Lift Trucks
  • Viscosity measurements
  • Daily scale calibrations
  • Maintain housekeeping

Perform the following duties, to include but not limited to:

  • Washing equipment (tanks, pumps, piping and loading equipment)
  • Loading (charging) various size tanks from 5 to 250-gallon capacity
  • Loading (charging) moving and lifting gallon stock, drums and totes
  • Must be able to follow established process instructions and documentation (monitoring equipment)
  • Filtration of product (loading / charging FSI filter and traps)
  • Labeling of containers, following established process, customer and DOT requirements
  • Housekeeping (participating in area cleanup)
  • Auditing 
  • Ability to lift/ carry/ push/ pull 50 Lbs. and stand for 8 hrs. per day
  • Ability to repetitively climb ladders/ stairs, bend, stoop, twist, crouch, kneel, reach above shoulders, turn wrench/ valve handles,
  • Perform selective maintenance tasks / equipment switch-outs to keep the process running
  • Operator must be able to operate computer-controlled equipment
  • Operators must be able to follow all site and area guidelines pertaining to all functions within the plant and assigned tasks. (Examples:  fire watch, breaks / lunch, availability for work, etc.)
  • Operator must be able to follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) that pertain to employees job functions
  • Assist in the training of other employees
  • Required: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Required: 40 hr. work week (including occasional weekday and weekend overtime)
  • Required: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Required: Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Required: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Required: Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Required: Capability to learn quickly and work in a self-directed team environment
  • Required: Comfortable working with Hazardous materials while using proper PPE (gloves, masks, glasses, safety shoes, protective suits...Etc.)
  • Preferred: Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. 
  • Preferred: Previous manufacturing experience
  • Preferred: Previous experience operating lift trucks/ material handling
  • Preferred: Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Completion of all required on-site customer training
  • Read and sign-off on Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  • Occasional training required due to process or equipment changes
