Job Title: Millwright

Purpose of Role:

The position is responsible for the Electrical (Light and Heavy current) and Mechanical repair and maintenance off all machinery and equipment on the Weir Isando site. This include but is not limited to Foundry, Machine shop and Rubber plant.

Key Responsibilities:

Safety First:

Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviour's in support of our drive towards developing a world class safety culture.

Production:

Repairs and maintenance to all plant and machinery within the facility confines.

Attending to breakdowns on the plant. Assist other maintenance artisans with complex fault finding.

Ensure that all scheduled preventative maintenance is adhered to.

Daily inspections of allocated machines as per Maintenance plan.

Basic PLC programming and automation of machines and systems in factories

Automate and improve efficiency of machinery, plant and production lines using sound industrial automation knowledge and experience.

Feedback by completing job cards on Computerized maintenance management system

Working shifts from time to time if needed and attending to all plant breakdowns

Working overtime and standby duties

Ensure all changes and repairs are mechanically and electrically designed properly and in accordance with SANS 10142 and relevant standards

Setup new schedules for new & existing equipment in the plant (machinery and equipment)

Drawings:

The ability to understand and interpret all engineering machine drawings in the execution of maintenance duties

Be able to compile and draw any relevant sketches or designs necessary regarding maintenance functions

Teamwork:

Work together in a team of artisans, foreman, planner, Production personnel, etc

Assist and Mentor apprentices

Open to give and receive regular feedback on individual and team performance

Exhibits objectivity and openness to others' views


Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:

  • Qualified Artisan: Millwright with minimum 5 years’ experience. (Required)

  • N3 Electrical/Mechanical (Required)

  • N6/Diploma (Desired)

  • PLC basics training (Required)

  • Forklift and Working at Heights (Required)

  • Confined spaces (Required)

  • Medium Voltage Switching (Required)

  • Boiler Operator (Required)

  • Knowledge and experience with variable speed drives (Required)

  • Knowledge and experience on level sensors, flow sensors, pressure sensors, temperature sensors.

  • Good knowledge of machine safety devices.

  • Foundry Machinery Experience (Required)

  • Good experience of CNC and conventional machines, cranes forklifts, pneumatic, steam and hydraulic installations 

  • Computer knowledge (SAP, Microsoft Office)
