Overview

Deriva Energy, a portfolio company of Brookfield Renewable U.S., who is a nationwide leader in sustainable energy provides wind, solar, resilient backup power, and managed energy services to over 1,000 projects across the U.S., with a total electric capacity of more than 5,100 megawatts of nonregulated renewable energy. Our Renewables Technologists (High Voltage Technicians) are a vital part of our organization, and we take pride in hiring and training the best in the industry.  We are looking for motivated, High Voltage Technicians to travel the country maintaining and repairing high and medium voltage equipment.

This is a traveling position.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis, resolution of problems and repair completion of electrical equipment

  • Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches.

Basic Qualifications

Technologist I

  • Minimum of 1 year as an Associate or similar experience

  • Complete required training for EO1

  • Forklift training/Certification

  • Aerial lift training/Certification

  • NFPA 70E qualified

  • Basic Understanding of Thermography

  • Read and understand Electrical System As Built Drawings.

  • Ability to write and perform SAT/HEC LOTO

Technologist II

  • Minimum of 2 years as a Technologist 1 or similar experience

  • Complete required training for EO2

  • Understanding of Dissolved Gas Analysis

  • Basic knowledge of Transformer Degasification Processing

  • Read and understand Electrical System As Built Drawings.

  • Able to perform Underground Cable Fault Detection and make repairs

  • Basic Understanding of Dissolved Gas Analysis

  • Air switch Installations and Maintenance knowledge

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working on substation and BOP equipment

  • Experience working with micro-processor relays

  • Experience using testing equipment (Multimeter. Megger, TTR, ETC…)

  • Ability to read and understand site and equipment drawings

  • Ability to effectively apply basic principles of project management

  • FAA Part 107 SUAS rating (Commercial drone pilot)

  • Ability to work effectively within a team dynamic to get the job done within the allotted project timeline

 Working Conditions

  • Travel required for 100% of the projects

  • Operate equipment including but not limited to forklifts and commercial motor vehicles

  • This position contains a weight restriction of 265 pounds as an essential function of the job. The purpose of this restriction is to ensure that all weight rated equipment is used in an appropriate and safe manner within maximum allowed weight loading

  • Exposure to mechanical, electrical, and/or other hazards

  • Ability to lift 75lbs individually

  • Walking, Climbing of stairs, ladders, and/or scaffolds

  • Working in all-weather outdoor conditions (extreme heat, cold, wind, rain, snow)

  • Exposure to noisy, dusty conditions, chemicals or solvents

  • Ability to pass a background check and pass a drug test

  • Able to pass a pre-employment physical

  • Completion of OEM or third-party technical specialty training program

  • Field Mobility Classification – Work will be performed in various field locations, as needed, after the onboarding period
