Job description

Our client, a well-established Arizona-based commercial electrical contractor, is seeking a remote Electrical Estimator to support a growing estimating team. Reporting directly to the Director of Estimating, you will prepare full estimates of commercial electrical projects under specific deadlines, including cost analysis for construction projects, quantity takeoffs, vendor and subcontractor pricing, change order pricing, and maintenance of estimating files and the historical cost database.

The role suits a detail-driven estimator who is comfortable owning the accuracy of a number, communicates clearly across time zones, and flags risk early. You will manage multiple projects at once while keeping a high level of organization.

Key Responsibilities

Estimate Preparation

  • Prepare full estimates and cost analyses for commercial electrical construction projects under deadline.
  • Create conceptual estimates with minimal information to assist and guide clients early in a project.
  • Identify the expenses related to electrical applications.

Pricing, Vendors & Trade Partners

  • Solicit and review pricing from vendors and subcontractors.
  • Identify and coordinate electrical trade partners throughout the planning phase.

Scope, Value Engineering & Change Orders

  • Conduct reviews of milestone documents to identify changes in work scope and develop pricing of value alternative opportunities.
  • Assist field operations with change order pricing.

Data, Files & Estimating Systems

  • Help manage the electrical estimating process and create electrical estimating databases.
  • Collect and organize all bid information for input into the historical cost database platform.
  • Maintain estimating computer files.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of electrical estimating experience on commercial projects.
  • Proficiency in electrical estimating software systems.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, plans, and terminology.
  • Excellent mathematical skills and organizational abilities.
  • Effective communication with vendors, customers, field personnel, and colleagues.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience on projects ranging from $1 million and larger (candidates with strong experience on smaller projects are also encouraged to apply).
  • Bluebeam proficiency.
  • Familiarity with current technology trends in estimating.

Tools & Software

  • Primary: electrical estimating software (Accubid / Trimble, McCormick, ConEst, or similar).
  • Bluebeam Revu, historical cost database platform, Microsoft Office, MS Teams, and OneDrive.

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • You produce takeoffs that are accurate and complete, and you know the difference between a number you can stand behind and a guess.
  • You keep multiple projects organized and visible, and you raise risks before they become bid-day surprises.
  • You are comfortable working with US-based teams and communicating clearly in written English.
