Role Overview

We are seeking a detail-focused Tax Preparer (CPA) to support federal, state, and local tax compliance work. This role is execution-driven, with responsibility for preparing accurate tax returns, supporting IRS matters, and maintaining clean documentation. You will work independently within defined processes and deadlines.

Position Responsibilities

  • Prepare federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals and business entities
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance of all filings
  • Assist with tax planning by identifying deductions, credits, and compliance issues
  • Research tax regulations as needed to support return preparation
  • Support IRS resolution matters, including notices and documentation
  • Maintain organized workpapers and tax records
  • Use Lacerte for tax preparation and Canopy for workflow and document management
  • Communicate clearly with internal stakeholders regarding missing data or tax issues
  • Stay current on changes in tax laws and filing requirements

Position Qualifications

  • CPA license required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • 5+ years of experience in tax preparation or related tax roles
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax regulations
  • IRS tax resolution experience preferred
  • Prior experience with Lacerte tax preparation software preferred
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple returns and deadlines, especially during peak season
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
