Job Title:

Seasonal Application Reviewer

Department:

Strategic Enrollment | Undergraduate Admissions

Guided by the university’s Strategic Enrollment Plan, Undergraduate Admissions (UA) works collaboratively with all Ohio State campuses and constituencies to promote student access, success and excellence and to champion the recruitment, selection and enrollment of undergraduate students. The Undergraduate Admissions team is a dynamic team of highly talented individuals whose daily work has a positive effect on the lives of students and the university.

UA is responsible for the holistic review of domestic and international first-year applications to the Columbus Campus. The Application Reviewer position provides a holistic evaluation for many domestic and international applications for undergraduate admission to The Ohio State University.  The Application Reviewer is responsible for reviewing all application materials and making an admissions recommendation, based on extensive training.

The Application Reviewer is required to enter recommendations for completed reviews into the review site on a weekly basis. Application Reviewers are also required to attend and participate in monthly trainings and individual coaching sessions, and other meetings as needed during normal university business hours. Any absence requests from the required trainings must be submitted and approved in advance. It is the reviewer’s responsibility to remain up to date with procedural and guideline changes provided by UA. Opportunities for professional development during the admission season are offered. Throughout the admissions process, Reviewers are required to ensure confidentiality and security of the admissions process, files, and university materials.

Reviewers are expected to work approximately 14-18 hours per week, with some weeks during November through January requiring up to 20 hours and some weeks at the start and end of the season requiring fewer than 14 hours. Reviewers are compensated at an hourly rate. Reviewers will conduct a holistic review on average of 80 files a week with some weeks during November through January requiring additional files.  File review should primarily occur during normal university business hours. Candidates must commit to completing the needed files per week and attending all required trainings and meetings.  Reviewers will use University issued equipment. This position is a seasonal position beginning in early October and ending on or before February 28.
