JOB TITLE:    Sanctions Technician

LOCATION:   Remote UK Based Flexible working with the opportunity for hybrid working from Chatham

TYPE:            Permanent, Full - time (37.5 hrs per week)

Processing over £101 billion worth of premium and claims transactions today, we are building a new digital platform and services that will enable our customers to move transactions and money through the processing lifecycle with greater efficiency and speed, releasing time to drive innovation and focus on higher value activities.

Job Overview

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for an individual who as a Sanctions Technician works under the direction of the Sanctions Team Leader (part of the Control, Quality, L&D and Sanctions function) and the role is central to ensuring that the Joint Venture is compliant with all US, EU, and UK Sanctions regulations. The overall Sanctions function consists of a Screening Team (data entry and simple ‘Level 1’ Sanctions clearance), Clearing Team (‘Level 1 – 2’ Sanctions clearance), Sanctions Team (‘Level 2’ Sanctions clearance and peripheral Sanctions activity) and Compliance Team (‘Level 3’ Sanctions clearance). The Sanctions Technician is responsible for low complexity ‘L2’ Sanctions clearance and escalating more complex cases to an Advanced Sanctions Technician or Senior Sanctions Technician within the team. The Sanctions Technician’s primary role is to carry out Sanctions related activities

This role interacts regularly with the operating units and support areas and is regarded as an expert in Sanctions matters. This position is recognised for its depth and breadth of knowledge and expertise in both technical and market wide processes and procedures as well as for its’ interaction with various internal and external stakeholders.

What you will be doing

  • Maintain Sanctions Quality Control
  • Daily Audit (same day auditing) of sensitive territory cases
  • Daily Audit (next day audit) of high risk territory cases
  • Sensitive territory checks (currency and banks)
  • Maintenance of Sanctions User Group SharePoint site
  • Sending Sanctions related queries to the market
  • Applies technical knowledge (Sanctions and insurance).
  • Supports Sanctions change in the business.
  • Acts as an ambassador for the Joint Venture & maximises the reputation
  • Positively supports change initiatives & identifies new ways of doing things
  • Supports continuous improvement activities within the team and department & promotes a positive attitude to change within the team
  • Backs up conclusions with logical analysis and presents at a level that is appropriate to the audience
  • Communicates accurate, up-to-date information (e.g., work status) in a clear and timely manner.

  • Works co-operatively within and across teams to achieve objectives.
  • Effectively plans and organises own workload in order to meet business requirements and timescales.
