Job description

SUMMARY

The Assistant Product Manager supports product development for the Schools Team from concept to launch. This position will manage ancillary products for the curriculum. It also helps coordinate and support all aspects of curriculum product development, contributes to content planning and development, gathers and evaluates customer and market insights to inform product decisions, and supports the successful delivery of projects on scope, on time, and within budget. The Assistant Product Manager also maintains product documentation and contributes to the continuous improvement of product development processes. Above all, the Assistant Product Manager represents the company by keeping Ascension’s name and mission at the forefront of the product creation process, while maintaining and promoting Ascension’s Catholic identity and mission.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Manage the development and production of ancillary products, with guidance from the Associate General Manager and Senior Product Manager.
    • Assists the Senior Product Manager in curriculum development tasks for print products, videos, App integration, teacher resources, and USCCB alignment
    • Contributes to curriculum and instructional content by evaluating materials, developing outlines, creating rough drafts, and collaborating with subject matter experts.
    • Provide creative energy and insight for product look and feel, design, and overall branding, as needed.
    • Assists in evaluating customer and market insights, collaborates with Marketing to gather and analyze research, and supports recommendations for future editions and new products.
    • Maintains consistent and effective communication with all project stakeholders including internal and external stakeholders.
    • Contributes to the collection, maintenance, and analysis metrics to track project status and demonstrate effectiveness and impact.
    • Product Documentation: creates and maintains product documentation and filing systems that support the development and launch of curriculum and ancillary products.
    • Product Launch: collaborates with marketing for a smooth transition from product development through product launch.
    • Quality Control: participates in review processes that ensure curriculum and ancillary products are accurate, consistent, and ready for publication.  
    • Project Budgets: Assists with the creation, tracking, and reporting of project budgets and maintains budget records for assigned projects.
    • Helps manage project schedules and resource requirements for curriculum and ancillary products; works with the Project Manager to communicate and secure necessary resources.
    • Continuous Improvement: contributes to the continual assessment of project management best practices to identify and communicate innovative ideas to improve processes.
    • Other projects and tasks as defined.

Requirements

    • BS/BA degree in Business, Theology, Education, Curriculum or an equivalent degree.
    • 1-3 years of relevant experience in product or content development, project management, editing, or related field.
    • Ability to drive a project forward with a servant-leader attitude. 
    • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Proficient with standard project management tools and templates.
    • Self-starter who possesses exceptional time management skills with great attention to detail.
    • Collaborative mindset, someone who works well with people of varying personalities and skill sets.

    • The ability to travel to the Ascension office in Exton, PA, and to other project sites (when applicable) is required.
