Founded in 1979, The Chicago School is an independent professional graduate school with both undergraduate and graduate programs, and a dynamic student body and a professionally accomplished faculty. Our curriculum and training opportunities prepare graduates to deliver outstanding professional services emphasizing the ability to understand and work with diverse populations.

Position Summary:

Adjunct Faculty Member – General Education (Physics)

The General Education department in the College of Undergraduate Studies is seeking highly qualified candidates for adjunct/ Subject Matter Expert (SME) faculty positions to join our current dynamic faculty to facilitate our undergraduate courses. We offer a wide range of undergraduate courses that prepare our undergraduate students for sought-after careers in psychology as well as for a seamless transition into our graduate program upon completion of their Bachelor’s degree. We are seeking a faculty member to develop and teach Physics courses within our General Education curriculum, serving students on pathways toward advanced professional and graduate degrees.

These courses include:

· General Physics I

· General Physics I Lab

· General Physics II

· General Physics II Lab

Online courses at The Chicago School are taught through the Canvas learning management system. Prior to teaching, all new adjunct faculty members will participate in our 7-week Teaching Online Pedagogy and Standards (TOPS) course, which covers best practices and new developments in online teaching and learning. Applicants should submit a current CV along with a cover letter describing their qualifications, teaching experience, and interest in the position.

Principle Duties:

· Facilitate student learning through discussions and assignments aligned with course syllabi

· Provide timely, substantive, and constructive feedback

· Respond to student inquiries and support student success

· Develop or provide supplemental instructional materials, as needed

· Offer at least one synchronous learning opportunity per term

· Participate in departmental meetings and virtual events (e.g., open house) at least once per term

Position Qualifications:

· Master’s degree in Physics or a related field (required)

· Doctorate in Physics or a related field (preferred)

· Prior undergraduate teaching experience (preferred)

Compensation & Benefits

This opportunity is budgeted at $756-856 per BA credit and may vary per course with student enrollment. Additional compensation factors may impact total compensation.
