Job description

ABOUT APTARA:

Aptara is a world leader in the digital publishing industry. Our onshore company is focused on educational publishing and curriculum development for Grades K-12 and higher education. We are seeking interns who have specific academic majors (math, sciences, engineering, English, Economics, etc.) or experience working with students. Candidates should have an interest in publishing or education and want to learn how the combination of their academic pursuits can lead to a career in educational publishing.

JOB SUMMARY:
As part of the Content Services team, provides administrative, clerical, and editorial support to editorial managers and content developers to ensure timely delivery of materials to clients, writers, editors, and vendors. Entry-level position often used as the first point on a professional career path in publishing. This position requires someone who is comfortable working in an extremely fast-paced environment and is comfortable reaching out to and interacting with a variety of people. To be successful in this position you must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, have a strong sense of responsibility, self-motivation, and flexibility. You must be extremely detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Must be able to take initiative and exhibit the ability to learn. Please note that our internship periods run for a full 6-month period that is discussed and agreed upon prior to hiring. We expect interns to commit to serving the full 6-month internship.

Co-op Students had this to say about working for Aptara:

"I loved working at Aptara. I was treated as a full member of the team and learned a lot about educational publishing."

"Incredible place to work at. The people there are great to get along with and the overall atmosphere is very relaxed, even under the most chaotic times. Depending on what projects they have going on, what you do will vastly differ from day to day. They're not afraid to give you work that they'd typically give to full-time assistant project managers. You help out the editorial team, the production team and the art team, so you get a very good idea of how textbook editing works."

"Even though I did not have aspirations to work in the field of educational publishing, Aptara gave me an amazing opportunity to get my first glance into the publishing industry. By the end of my six months I had played an invaluable role in a long-term project and had been given the responsibility of supervising both a freelancer and an intern. The people at Aptara are all extremely welcoming and supportive. I was even hired on as a freelancer after my co-op position had ended! I highly recommend Aptara to any student interested in the publishing field."
