Legal Project Manager - Global Law Firm

Hybrid: London or Manchester

James Carrera of Digital Data Foundation is hiring an experience Legal Project Manager, you will manage matter scope, schedules, delivery risks, parties and stakeholders to ensure that client needs are met whilst maximising the commercial performance for this Global Law Firm. Part of a Global team responsible for a wide range of projects working closely with the Practice Management, Innovation and Knowledge teams on pitches and assessment of new technology solutions.


Responsibilities:

You will Lead project management on multiple legal matters in conjunction with legal teams and clients, portfolio management for clients with multiple matters and on  specialist projects to improve the way we deliver legal services to clients through Legal Technology & innovation;

  • RFPs for relevant matter/panel pitches on LPM methodologies
  • Participate in pitch presentations to clients on the role of LPM on matters and approach
  • Scope work and tasks on matters as part of preparing budgets/estimates
  • Financial management of legal matters including reviewing work in progress, managing disbursements / external costs, regular (e.g. monthly) reporting to clients and associated billing, scope management
  • Manage key matter stakeholders
  • Set up, manage and coordinate use of client collaboration platforms for a portfolio of matters
    Work collaboratively with Innovation, KM and IS to ensure other firm solutions that support efficient working are being leveraged as needed on matters
  • Source and manage alternative delivery options for matter resources
    Prepare plans and schedules for matters which range in duration from weeks to many years and forecast legal spend in upcoming periods
  • Utilise matter pricing, profitability and reporting dashboards and alerts to ensure matters are supported with effective financial management data


Experience and knowledge

At least 2-5 years experience leading projects in the legal, consulting or other professional service sectors, Legal project or matter management experience with a strong understanding of all stages in a matter lifecycle;

  • Demonstrated experience in dealing with senior business stakeholders, selling LPM internally, budgeting and planning of delivering professional services
  • Change management experience
    A recognised project management qualification is highly desirable
  • Willingness to learn / step into / continue line management skills and invest time in mentoring colleagues
  • Excellent communication, professionalism and interpersonal skills
