Location: Gove Peninsula, Northern Territory (Fly-In/Fly-Out from Darwin or Cairns)
Roster: 1 Week On / 1 Week Off (12-hour shifts for 7 days)
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time

We are seeking an experienced Tyre Fitter to join our client's mechanical workshop in Gov Peninsula, NT. This role is Fly-In/Fly-Out (FIFO) from either Darwin or Cairns on a 1 week on / 1 week off roster. Initially, the focus will be on 4WD and car tyre services, including fitting and balancing. However, as the business grows, work will expand to include heavy machinery and truck tyres.

The successful candidate will play a key role in establishing tyre fitting as a standalone business unit within the workshop. Currently, tyre fitting is handled by mechanics, but the increasing workload has created the need for a dedicated, full-time tyre fitter.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fit, balance, and repair 4WD, passenger car, truck, and heavy machinery tyres.
  • Provide expert tyre services, including rotations, puncture repairs, and replacements.
  • Work independently to set up and establish tyre fitting as a core function of the workshop.
  • Assist with the selection and maintenance of tyre-fitting equipment and inventory.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and efficiently, adhering to workshop and safety standards.
  • Work on a FIFO basis (1 week on, 1 week off) with potential for increased rotation as demand grows.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Experience in tyre fitting across cars, trucks, and heavy machinery.
  • Strong understanding of tyre balancing, puncture repair, and alignment techniques.
  • Ability to work independently and help establish a new tyre-fitting business unit.
  • Experience in mobile and on-site tyre servicing is highly advantageous.
  • Cert II in Tyre Fitting (Light & Heavy) preferred.
  • Current Drivers Licence (Car & Truck) preferred.
  • Forklift Ticket is desirable.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and procedures.

Benefits:

  • FIFO Role from Darwin or Cairns.
  • 12-hour shifts for 7 days, followed by 7 days off.
  • Opportunity to help establish a new division within a growing workshop.
  • Competitive hourly rate based on experience.
  • Long-term permanent opportunity with room for career growth.
  • Work with a reputable company in a key regional location.
