Senior SAP Automation Engineer

We’re now expanding our platform with a new Security Operations Hub for SAP that combines security observability, compliance automation, and intelligent remediation to close the operational gap SAP leaves behind.

This role will be the lead engineer and developer for that product, bringing a combination of expertise in SAP engineering, technical security, product understanding and technical skills to implement the security software they’ve always wanted to build.

If you have experience in SAP Basis or development in SAP systems in compliant environments, configuring SAP securely to keep attackers out and auditors happy, then you might be exactly what we are looking for. If you have experience of keeping auditors happy too, then you probably are exactly what we are looking for.

Responsibilities

Product & Strategy

• Define and evolve the security and compliance product roadmap in partnership with Product Management and Engineering

• Translate operational pain points (audit readiness, certificate expiry, vulnerability patching) into automated, scalable product capabilities

• Shape the security data model and integration architecture (SAP systems, BTP, SIEM, and HotNews feeds)

• Own the definition of security observability dashboards and reporting aligned to frameworks (ISO27001, NIST, SOC2, BSI, SAP Security Baseline)

Execution

• Implement security compliance checks and automations in Avantra platform content

• Develop proof-of-concepts for new SecOps features (e.g. automated certificate renewal, HotNews relevance scoring, SAP Note remediation)

• Work with the platform developers and designers to guide and shape enhancements to the platform for security functionality

• Validate new features directly with customers, ensuring we’re solving the right problems for auditors, operators, and CISOs alike

What You Bring

• Deep SAP basis and operations expertise, ideally gained in enterprise operations, managed services, or consulting environments

• Programming, scripting or low-code automation experience (e.g. one of JavaScript, Python, PowerShell, Avantra automations, or Ansible)

• Optional: experience with ABAP and other SAP development technologies

• Strong understanding of SAP technical security across ECC, S/4HANA, and BTP

• Familiarity with some security frameworks (ISO27001, SOC2, NIST, SAP Security Baseline), perhaps through working with SAP systems that are audited to these standards

• Hands-on experience with security, observability and automation tools like SAP Solution Manager, SAP Cloud ALM, or others

• Excellent communication skills to explain complex security issues to both engineers and executives
