Job description

CWI Works is recruiting is recruiting for a position within the NFS Agriculture Conservation Experienced Services (ACES) Program through a grant administered program which provides support to the U.S. Forest Service (NFS). Successful candidates must meet the age criteria of being 55 years of age or older and eligible to work in the United States. Selected candidates will also be required to undergo a federal security background check.


Role and Responsibilities:

The Land Adjustment Trainer/Lands Specialist serves as a subject matter expert and mentor to Regional Forest Service Land Adjustment Team (RLAT) Realty Specialists. This position provides technical guidance and oversight on complex federal land adjustment projects, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and Forest Service standards. The incumbent supports project completion from initiation through Final Title Opinion (FTO) and case closure while helping strengthen the skills and capabilities of Forest Service personnel.


Duties include:

  • Mentor and advise Realty Specialists on federal land adjustment processes, policies, and procedures. 
  • Guide Realty Specialists through complex land adjustment projects from project initiation through case closure. 
  • Review work products, case files, and project packages for quality, accuracy, completeness, and compliance with federal statutes, regulations, and USDA Forest Service policies. 
  • Manage and complete complex land adjustment cases through Final Title Opinion (FTO) and case closure. 
  • Assist in reducing case backlogs by completing longstanding FTOs and unresolved land adjustment cases. 
  • Develop and deliver technical guidance, training, and mentoring to Forest Service personnel. 
  • Participate in internal and external meetings, briefings, and project discussions. 
  • Conduct and support site visits with regional realty staff, partners, and property owners. 
  • Provide recommendations and technical expertise related to federal land adjustment activities.


Qualifications and Education Requirements: 

Successful candidates must meet the age criteria of being 55 years of age or older and eligible to work in the United States; able to pass a Federal Background check; HS diploma with 10+ years’ experience. Knowledge of FS Software is essential. Travel to field sites for inspections, meetings with partners, property owners.


Hours & Compensation:

Part-Time position working up to 7 hours per week @ $63.00.
