Position Summary


The Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for planning, designing, executing, and documenting software testing activities across Avum's government applications. The position supports functional, regression, integration, user acceptance, and Agile testing efforts throughout the software development lifecycle. This role supports formal testing and develops formal test plans, test procedures, test execution, test reports, and contract deliverables. This role also supports Agile software development and develops test procedures, performs tests, documents test results using test management tools. The QA Specialist collaborates with developers, business analysts, subject matter experts, and government stakeholders to ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop formal test plans, test procedures, test reports, and other QA deliverables required by project and contract requirements.
  • Review business, functional, and technical requirements to ensure adequate test coverage.
  • Develop and execute test cases for functional, regression, integration, and UAT testing.
  • Log and track defects with detailed reproduction steps and evidence.
  • Maintain traceability between requirements, test cases, defects, and testing results, and ensure all documentation is audit-ready.
  • Participate in defect triage activities and assist with root cause analysis.
  • Communicate testing progress, risks, and quality metrics to project leadership and stakeholders.
  • Support development of test strategies and continuous improvement of QA processes.
  • Validate sprint user stories against acceptance criteria.
  • Collaborate with developers and SMEs on defect resolution and requirements clarification.
  • Support release testing and sign-off processes.
  • Participate in Scrum ceremonies and provide QA perspective on sprint planning.

Compensation


The salary range for this position is $75,000 – $112,000 annually, with a target midpoint of $92,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, certifications, and geographic location.   • Hybrid/remote work environment with potential on-site requirements based on contract needs

Requirements


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • 5+ years of software QA/testing experience
  • Experience with JIRA test management tool or equivalent
  • Security clearance: Active Secret clearance required or ability to obtain
  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum or SAFe preferred).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders, and government customers.
  • Demonstrated experience authoring formal test plans, test reports, status reports, and other project documentation.
  • Experience preparing professional contract deliverables and supporting documentation.
  • Experience presenting testing results, risks, and recommendations to management, customers, and project stakeholders.
  • Experience developing requirements traceability matrices (RTMs) and ensuring end-to-end test coverage of business and functional requirements


Preferred Qualifications

  • DAWIA T&E Level 2 or higher, ISTQB Advanced, or equivalent certification
  • Experience testing government procurement and acquisition systems, including data exchanges,
  • interfaces, and business processes involving PIEE, GEX, FPDS, Contract Writing Systems, financial
  • systems and related federal enterprise applications
  • Familiarity with federal acquisition regulations and processes, including FAR and DFARS.
  • Experience testing Appian-based applications.
  • Familiarity with automated testing tools and frameworks.
