Your Role:
The Senior Director, Business Development will have a strategic role in driving increased sales and business for Avid amongst biotechnology, biopharmaceutical and pharmaceutical companies, or others as deemed appropriate, and increasing Avid Bioservices’ visibility in the marketplace, while creating mutually beneficial business partnerships.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Grow Avid’s market share and revenue within the biopharmaceutical/biotechnology CDMO industry by identifying and meeting with prospective clients to sell the benefits of partnering with us.
  • Generate and close new biologics development and manufacturing opportunities, assuring revenue, bookings and pipeline targets are met.
  • Lead opportunities from prospecting through contract negotiation and execution.
  • Develop long term relationships with biotech and pharma executives
  • Partner internally with technical, operations, program management, legal and finance teams.
  • Present proposals and negotiate Master Service Agreements, Work Statements and Commercial Supply Agreements.
  • Develop and implement sales strategies
  • Maintain relationships with existing clients to secure follow-on business.
  • Utilize CRM (salesforce.com) to manage opportunities with clients.
  • Solicit and manage requests for proposals, information, and quotations from clients and potential clients.
  • Collaborate with the proposal writer to customize and assemble documentation due to clients and ensure completion and issuance of responses for all forms of requests for information.
  • Collaborate with the proposal writer to develop pricing models, structure, and negotiate manufacturing contracts, and support project scope of work documentation.
  • Represent Avid at industry conferences such as BIO, DCAT, JPM and CPhI. 
  • Coordinate and manage client site visits and audits.
  • Exhibit strong executive presence with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Schedule travel as needed and submit expense reports in a timely manner.
  • Participate in mandatory team meetings and regularly standing internal calls.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A or B.S.) in biology, chemistry or similar science disciplines from a four-year college or university, with a Master’s in Business Administration preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in CDMO sales positions demonstrating knowledge, capability and expertise in the biologics/pharmaceuticals industry or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years selling biologics development and manufacturing services specifically is preferred.
  • Demonstrate ability to establish and build professional relationships. Growing and expanding sales and customer base is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment, supporting fellow business operations, marketing, proposal writers and project management professionals.
  • Demonstrated experience within the territories with access to biopharmaceutical accounts.
  • Ability to navigate internal teams to ensure the best support of client needs.
  • Proficient in Microsoft suite of software programs, and others a needed.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Cell line development
    • Upstream and downstream processing
    • Process development and scale up
    • Tech transfer
    • Analytical development
    • GMP manufacturing
    • PPQ and commercial manufacturing
    • Regulatory requirements for biologics (FDA, EMA, ICH)
    • Modalities such as monoclonal antibodies
 
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: 
This role is a full-time remote position based in Japan. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday unless otherwise stated by Supervisor. The employee must also have the ability to work overtime and/or weekends when necessary.
Compensation:  
We offer competitive compensation packages for this role, including a base salary, performance-based bonuses, and comprehensive benefits such as health, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, and paid time off. 
The compensation range for this role is $81,000 - $111,000 annually depending on experience and qualifications. Additionally, we offer opportunities for career growth and development as well as a supportive and inclusive work environment.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:  

In this dynamic role, expect a blend of regular activities like sitting, standing, and walking, with occasional physically engaging tasks such as lifting objects up to 25 pounds. The work environment might expose you to electrical shocks, toxic chemicals, vibrations, or loud noise levels occasionally.
