Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented, analytical, and service-focused Property Accountant to join our team and play a key role in ensuring the financial accuracy and operational success of our multifamily portfolio.

What You'll Be Doing

As our Property Accountant, you'll be responsible for managing the financial activities of assigned properties while serving as a trusted resource to operations teams, clients, and internal stakeholders. A strong understanding of multifamily accounting systems—particularly RealPage/OneSite—is essential to success in this role. Key responsibilities include:

• Managing the monthly financial reporting process for assigned properties, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery of financial statements
• Performing month-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and financial analysis in accordance with GAAP
• Utilizing RealPage/OneSite to review financial activity, analyze property performance, maintain accounting records, and support operational teams
• Reconciling bank accounts and researching discrepancies while preparing necessary adjusting entries and supporting documentation
• Monitoring property cash flow, accounts payable activity, security deposit balances, prepaid rent, delinquency reporting, and other key financial metrics
• Assisting with annual budgeting, forecasting, lender reporting requirements, audits, tax preparation support, and reserve draw requests
• Conducting internal reviews and audits to ensure compliance with company policies, accounting procedures, and client requirements
• Partnering with Community Managers, Asset Directors, and clients to answer financial questions and provide accounting support
• Maintaining organized financial records and ensuring documentation is retained in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements
• Communicating professionally with clients, lenders, auditors, vendors, and internal stakeholders via email, phone, and virtual meetings
• Performing other duties as assigned

Who You Are

We're looking for someone who combines strong accounting knowledge, multifamily industry expertise, and exceptional attention to detail. The ideal candidate will have:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required; Accounting degree strongly preferred
• Two or more years of multifamily property accounting experience required
Extensive experience with RealPage/OneSite is required, including daily accounting functions, reporting, reconciliations, month-end close processes, and property financial management
• Strong working knowledge of multifamily property management and accounting operations
• Experience with other property management systems such as Yardi Voyager, ResMan, or similar multifamily platforms preferred
• Strong understanding of GAAP, financial statements, account reconciliations, accrual accounting, and budget preparation
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple properties, deadlines, and priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong customer service and communication skills with the ability to effectively support both accounting and operations teams
• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive financial information with professionalism and discretion
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Teams, and Word
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a remote team environment
