Listed within this posting is the anticipated salary range for this position, plus variable incentive compensation. The final salary offered to a successful candidate may vary and will be dependent on several factors that include, but are not limited to, your business experience, education, and individual capacity. Harford Mutual is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.

 

THE OPPORTUNITY:

This position conducts on site and virtual audits of commercial accounts to determine the appropriate classifications and exposures to be used as the basis of premium and to determine final exposures.  In addition, assembles facts and data having a bearing in the determination of actual earned premiums for specific classes of casualty insurance including workers' compensation and general liability.  This position requires residency in Maryland or surrounding areas and will complete physical audits in Maryland as well as virtual audits in all other states as needed.

 

LOCATION:

Remote/Hybrid (Bel Air, MD Office)

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Conduct timely and accurate premium audits on commercial accounts to validate the accuracy of classifications and premium bases within a defined geographical area. 
  • Schedule audit appointments requiring advanced contact with insureds, and or agents.  Travel must be scheduled within the assigned area to allow for completion of a maximum number of audits.
  • This position will require the ability to be on the road conducting physical on-site audits for approximately 50% of the time.
  • Complete audits based on industry standard rules and interpretation for that jurisdiction.
  • Conduct a physical inspection of insured’s books to obtain the audit exposures.
  • May conduct a brief tour of the insured premises to verify hazards and to document any changes in the insured’s operation.
  • Send notifications to Underwriters of any unusual conditions that may affect the premiums.
  • Develop relationships with customers, agents, underwriters, and other internal business partners to communicate and support the audit results.
  • Perform other duties or special projects as required or as assigned by a supervisor.

 

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

  • Bachelor’s degree; preferably in Accounting, Finance, or Insurance.
  • Minimum of two years’ Premium Audit or related experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and a good driving record
  • Solid analytical and organizational skills
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines; high energy, self-motivated and proactive.
