Job description

About UZURV

At UZURV, we believe that everyone has the right to get to the places they need and want to go, including work, school, shopping, connecting with friends and family, attending worship services, or just a night out. Many people are able to drive, take public transit, or use a rideshare or taxicab, but about 25% of Americans (and especially older adults and people with disabilities) need assistance for getting out and about. We call it assisted mobility, and that’s what UZURV exists to deliver.

UZURV is a high-growth company that utilizes a technology platform to connect drivers, operating their own vehicles and providers operating wheelchair-accessible vehicles, with older adults and people with disabilities who need assisted mobility in order to get out and about within their communities. Since our founding in Richmond, VA, in 2017, we have grown into a leading national assisted mobility provider by partnering with public transit agencies. Today, we are operating in more than thirty communities across eighteen states and the District of Columbia, and in half of the twenty largest transit agencies in the country. Better still, we are helping meet the transportation needs of millions of riders each year. And it’s not by accident. UZURV has grown, because of the quality of our service. Riders, drivers, and employees give us high marks for our organizational culture, and for the quality and timeliness of our service. Additionally, our state-of-the-art technology enables us to provide an exceptional product at a cost significantly lower than the costs that our clients typically pay for the types of transportation services that we provide.

A little bit about the role…

The transportation industries in which UZURV operates are regulated by a myriad of federal, state, and local laws and regulations. How these laws and regulations are written, interpreted, and administered impacts the business environment within which we operate, as well as the ways we can serve our clients and riders. As a Government Relations Manager at UZURV, you will monitor the legislative and regulatory landscape, and you will help us to keep track of new and evolving federal, state and local laws and regulations. You will also support our efforts to engage with federal, state and local policy-makers, and you will help us to work with our clients to design programs and services that comply with the requirements of these laws and regulations, and that best meet the needs of the riders and communities we serve.

To be successful at UZURV, you will:

  • Monitor, analyze, and track legislative and regulatory activity across assigned markets to identify business risks and opportunities.
  • Build and maintain working relationships with policymakers, agency staff, legislative aides, and third-party advocates.
  • Draft high-impact position papers, testimony, comment letters, and internal policy memos.
  • Support the coordination of external lobbyists and advocacy consultants in assigned jurisdictions.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to translate policy developments into actionable business guidance.
  • Represent UZURV in stakeholder meetings, coalition convenings, and public forums.
  • Contribute to internal reporting on legislative status, hearing calendars, and advocacy progress.
  • Utilize AI tools to support research, drafting, and workflow efficiency consistent with team standards.

We’re Excited About You Because…

You are a highly organized, detail-oriented strategist with a proven track record in developing and overseeing results-driven policy campaigns. You are a skilled communicator who can navigate complex regulatory language and serve as a key advisor on matters related to government affairs and because you possess:

  • At least three years of combined experience in government relations, regulatory agencies, or public policy roles.
  • A proven ability to research and analyze statutes and regulations with high attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated experience with the legislative process and managing relationships with external lobbyists.
  • A strong ability to translate complex policy impacts into clear guidance for business stakeholders.
  • Exceptional communication skills with experience serving as a public face to policymakers and governmental contacts.
  • A proven track record of building relationships with diverse stakeholders to further organizational missions.
  • Strong organizational skills for managing and advancing several policy initiatives simultaneously.
  • A strategic mindset with the ability to identify policy-related opportunities in rapidly shifting markets.

Reasons it pays to work at UZURV (in addition to the pay itself)...

UZURV employees understand we are building a company that is greatly needed to improve access to mobility for all of us, regardless of our disabilities, illnesses, or impacts of age. We get daily affirmation from riders, drivers, and the transportation companies we work with about the innovation, value, and quality inherent in what we bring to market.

In addition to providing our employees with a safe and collaborative environment UZURV also offers:

  • 401K matching
  • Healthcare benefits package
  • Generous PTO and paid holidays
  • Collaborative team-based work environment
