Role Overview
The international data team is undergoing a complete transformation of their data architecture, migrating from a legacy SQL server, Azure Data Factory, SSAS and Power BI stack to Snowflake, dbt, Airflow, Tableau and Sigma. This opportunity will give you a chance to share your knowledge about best practises with Snowflake and dbt with the team, as well as a chance to build data infrastructure from scratch.
Key Responsibilities:
Be the Snowflake and dbt expert on the team, providing guidance on best practises
Make key design decisions for a brand new multi-dimensional data model
Make key architectural decisions for building a brand new data warehouse on Snowflake
Build and maintain pipelines to ingest data from Salesforce and various other data sources
Build and maintain dbt models to transform data using Medallion architecture for use by business intelligence tools
Work closely with our Business Intelligence team - monitoring and implementing enhancement requests for the data warehouse to meet the reporting demands of stakeholders
The successful candidate will also be given the opportunity to develop mentoring skills as we look to expand the team’s skillset to match those of our counterpart US team. As we work collaboratively with team members in different timezones, it is important that the candidate has strong interpersonal skills
Requirements:
7+ years experience in data engineering, ideally including cloud migration to Snowflake
Development of pipelines to ingest and transform data from scratch using REST APIs, AWS S3 and Airflow
Experience in designing and building dimensional data models from scratch with Type 2 SCDs and star schemas
Experience in designing and building at least one data warehouse on Snowflake from scratch
Strong SQL skills (CTEs and window functions)
Proficiency in Python for building pipelines with Snowpark
Experience designing multi-dimensional data models with star schema and Type 2 SCDs
Experience with dbt for building robust ELT processes
