Crop Worker Senior

Wageningen · 38 hours per week

Are you an experienced greenhouse professional with a sharp eye for crop quality? Join our team and take on a key role in developing tomorrow's vegetable varieties.

At our R&D site in Bergschenhoek, you'll work hands-on with vegetable crops — tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers — supporting the breeding process from seedling to harvest. Your experience allows you to work independently, safeguard the quality of ongoing trials and act as a go-to for less experienced colleagues.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Independently care for and monitor crops throughout the full breeding cycle

  • Carry out and guide activities such as transplanting, pruning and pollinating

  • Identify, diagnose and report diseases and irregularities

  • Play an active role in setting up trials and accurately recording research data

  • Share knowledge and provide day-to-day guidance to junior team members

Creating value to, on and beyond the farm by offering tailored solutions, that’s what we do. At Bayer Vegetable Seeds, we are dedicated to developing new vegetable seed varieties that growers around the world can cultivate. By combining our passion and in-depth knowledge, we strive for crop optimization and innovation for the benefit of farmers, consumers and our planet. From glasshouses to open fields, we join our forces with science and mother nature to advance health and nutrition. Do you want to join this team as well?

WHO YOU ARE

  • MBO/HBO background in agronomy, horticulture or a related field

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in greenhouse horticulture or plant breeding

  • Crop protection licence

  • Self-starting, proactive and able to bring colleagues along in your approach

  • Comfortable working with data and thriving in an R&D environment

WHAT BATER OFFERS YOU

As a modern employer, we take care of our employees and help them find a balance between career development opportunities and personal life planning. We offer our employees a wide range of career prospects, a modern working environment and competitive compensation. Bayer employees benefit from great employment conditions, such as:

  • 25 days of leave, with the option of buying a maximum of 10 additional days

  • You have the option to work from home, but we expect you at least 2 days per week at the office.

  • If you work from home, Bayer provides the required tools and a monthly internet allowance

  • A solid retirement plan and bicycle lease plan

  • An inspiring working environment with professional and committed colleagues

  • A successful innovative organization with international career possibilities

  • Challenges and possibilities to learn and to develop

  • At Bayer, we value your well-being. We offer support via our employee assistance program and provide various tools and initiatives to enhance your well-being

Be innovative, be Bayer. We shape the future of everyday health, patient care and agriculture. Together, we can advance health and nutrition for all.
