Summary

The Traveling Security Technician troubleshoots, installs, repairs, and maintains access control systems, electronic key systems, locking devices, visitor management systems, IP video surveillance, and other related hardware. This is a travelling technician role that requires daily travel to various job sites and client locations across states. 

Requirements

Major Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Independently install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair Electronic Access Control Systems, including door hardware, readers, low voltage wiring, and all related components.  
  • Travel daily to various job sites and client locations to perform installations, maintenance, and service work. 
  • Maintain readiness for travel by ensuring tools, equipment, and materials are properly stocked and organized for each job site.
  • Independently install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair Video Surveillance Systems, including cameras, mounting hardware, software, and all related components.
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair Alarm Systems, including keypads, sensors, and all related components.
  • Pull, route, and terminate various types of cables as needed for the equipment.
  • Test and verify that all systems and devices installed function properly and in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications.
  • Effectively collaborate and communicate with Project Managers and team members on project updates.
  • Coordinate with the internal Engineering team to program alarm systems, access systems, and IP video surveillance systems.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on alarm, access, and video systems.
  • Maintain a high level of quality and standards on all installations performed.
  • Organize and manage parts and tools.
  • Ensure departmental daily records are maintained and accurate.
  • Ensure safety best practices are being followed.
  • Other duties assigned. 

Qualifications and Experience

  • A high school diploma or equivalent (vocational/technical/business school background is strongly preferred).  
  • Must be comfortable with frequent travel, including overnight stays away from home as required by project needs.
  • Able to travel consistently for extended periods of time while working at various job sites.
  • Must be within a 60-mile radius of an airport for travel more than a day's drive away.
  • Must have a clean driving record and no DUIs in the past five years.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in the security field preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience with low-voltage cabling.
  • Familiarity with the use of various hand and power tools.
  • Familiarity with MS Office.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Good judgment is required.
  • Strong organizational skills are required.
  • Exceptional customer service skills are a must.

  • Additional Notes:
  • Probationary period of 90 days
  • Must have a clean driving record and no DUIs in the past five years.
  • Individuals with a felony or misdemeanor convictions MAY not be hired.
  • Individual must not have any alcohol or drug-related convictions or suspensions within the past three years.
  • Individual must be able to pass drug and physical screenings as well as background requirements.
  • Individual must be available to work variable hours and willing to travel.
