Description

Who We Are

Known for being a Best Place to Work and a People First company, IronArch Technology is an award-winning Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) specializing in providing innovative solutions and world class services to Federal Government clients.

Our employees have voted us as a 'Best Place to Work' 9 times and we are an INC 5000 recipient for being one of the fastest growing businesses in the United States.

Our Values: Deliver Outcomes with Speed | Own the Work and the Results | Respect People. Speak Directly. | Stay Curious. Enjoy the Journey.

What You’ll Do

IronArch is seeking a Senior Product Manager to lead backend product direction on My HealtheVet (MHV) — one of the VA's most-used Veteran-facing platforms. MHV is the digital backbone for how Veterans access health records, refill prescriptions, schedule appointments, and communicate with their care teams. The MHV Backend powers the APIs, integrations, and platform services that the patient portal and partner systems depend on every day.

You will own the product story across three teams that together keep the MHV Backend running and moving forward:

  • A Platform team driving large-scale modernization (CI/CD migration, infrastructure-as-code adoption, cloud-native secrets and config management, OS upgrades, load-balancer modernization) alongside operational stewardship.
  • An Access team owning the User, Account Creation, Admin, and Security APIs, with active work on PHI/PII endpoint hardening and recurring Oracle Health cutover activities.
  • A Security team coordinating remediations, audits, and access removals across backend and Liferay front-end teams.

You will set direction, prioritize, and surface value across all three. You will partner with engineering leadership across IronArch, Peregrine Digital Services, and Oddcore in a three-tier delivery structure, and serve as the senior IronArch product voice on the backend platform.

At IronArch, Product Managers are more than executors of contract deliverables — they are strategic partners embedded in the missions of the organizations we support. We expect Product Managers to dive deep into the mission, proactively shape product growth, and continuously look for ways to increase the value delivered to Veterans and to VA program leadership.

This is a senior individual-contributor role. You will not have direct reports, but you will be the senior-most IronArch product voice on the backend workstream and will mentor and influence across the partner team.

Key Responsibilities

Product direction

  • Own backend product strategy, roadmap, and prioritization across the Platform, Access, and Security teams; lead the monthly roadmap planning conversation
  • Drive product discovery on backend workstreams — research, stakeholder engagement, technical exploration — to make sure the right problems are being solved
  • Translate complex government, healthcare, and platform requirements into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and well-sequenced backlog items
  • Partner with engineering leaders on technical trade-offs: API design, data modeling, integration strategy, performance, security, and compliance posture
  • Articulate and surface value when teams are doing essential platform or API work that lacks visible program-level pull
  • Maintain awareness of MHV roadmap dependencies, VA compliance frameworks (Section 508, privacy, ATO), and platform-level changes that shape product decisions

Delivery rhythm

  • Represent the teams at the weekly MHV-on-VA.gov program standup, covering progress, blockers, and what's coming next
  • Lead the all-teams sprint showcase every sprint — coordinate the team to land a live demo and produce a clean, high-level deck of accomplishments
  • Run backlog refinement and ensure the backlog stays well-groomed, prioritized, and aligned with current strategy
  • Coordinate cross-team dependencies (including a recurring biweekly sync with the Liferay front-end team) and surface them in advance of impact
  • Triage inbound support requests — assess urgency, route to the appropriate backlog state, and factor into      prioritization
  • Serve as the point person for production-incident communications to stakeholders and the broader program; get ahead of      help-desk volume by proactively notifying field teams of impact and status
  • Schedule and approve releases for the Access team

Cross-team coordination

  • Coordinate security initiatives, remediations, audits, and access removals across backend and Liferay teams — making sure the right teams know what is needed and by when
  • Attend the weekly security sync to stay current on what is coming in the pipeline and identify who needs to be looped in
  • Ensure security items with upcoming deadlines are appropriately prioritized in the sprint
  • Coordinate product direction across the three-tier delivery structure (Oddcore, Peregrine Digital Services, IronArch) so the platform tells a single coherent story

Team health and capability

  • Champion mission alignment across the team: make sure engineers, designers, and stakeholders share a deep      understanding of the Veteran experience the backend ultimately serves
  • Identify documentation and process gaps (especially on legacy API surfaces) and shepherd improvements into the roadmap
  • Mentor product practices across the partner team and contribute to organic growth opportunities and proposal support as backend work surfaces them

  • Comfortable as the point of contact for production-incident communication and stakeholder messaging during operational events
  • Track record of partnering with engineering on platform decisions — CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, cloud-native services, secrets management, security hardening
  • Experience working in multi-party delivery structures (prime / sub / sub-to-sub, or JV configurations)
  • Strong written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting strategy, trade-offs, and incident posture to senior government stakeholders
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent experience
  • U.S. citizenship and the abilityto obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance

AI Product Capabilities

We expect Product Managers at IronArch to bring genuine AI fluency into the product conversation — not as buzzword decoration, but as a competency that shapes how decisions get made.

Understanding AI

  • Working knowledge of how machine learning, chatbots, large language models, and other AI patterns differ — including their respective strengths, shortcomings, and product-development implications.
  • Ability to evaluate use cases and articulate whether a problem is well-suited to AI — including knowing when NOT to use AI and how to guide stakeholders to that conclusion.

Using AI as a Product Manager

  • Experience applying AI tools to improve product management craft — examples include story writing, test-case generation, documentation, research synthesis, and stakeholder communication.

AI Risks

  • Understanding of the inherent risks associated with AI usage (hallucinations, privacy and data exposure, bias, security implications) and how to factor them into product decisions.

Preferred Experience

  • Prior experience with VA, VHA, or other federal health programs
  • Familiarity with MHV, VA.gov, or other Veteran-facing platforms
  • Experience managing product on systems integrating with VistA, MPI, CDB, Oracle Health, or similar enterprise health platforms
  • Hands-on familiarity with AWS-native services (SSM, Secrets Manager, ALB), Terraform, GitHub Actions, RHEL, and modern CI/CD practices
  • Experience with FedRAMP or VA ATO processes for backend platforms
  • Background working inside a JV or mentor-protégé contract structure
  • Current authorization to work for the Department of Veterans Affairs (active VA Public Trust badge)

Location

Remote, U.S.-based. This role is fully remote. Up to 10% travel may be expected for VA stakeholder meetings, partner working sessions, or IronArch all-hands events.
