Job description

We are seeking a dedicated Safety Training Officer to promote a safe and secure mining environment by developing and delivering safety training programs, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and supporting injury prevention initiatives. The successful candidate will analyze safety performance data, monitor incidents, oversee security and surveillance operations, and maintain emergency response procedures to protect employees, assets, and business operations.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and deliver safety training programs aligned with industry best practices and operational requirements.

  • Establish and maintain consistent safety training standards across the mine site.

  • Audit, update, and improve safety training systems to ensure regulatory compliance and continuous improvement.

  • Monitor industry trends, regulations, and best practices, implementing effective safety solutions where appropriate.

  • Conduct Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) training and support effective team performance.

  • Ensure emergency response teams are properly trained, prepared, and capable of responding to emergencies.

  • Serve as an internal safety advisor, providing guidance on complex and high-risk safety issues.

  • Promote safety awareness and compliance through regular communication, training, and coaching initiatives.

  • Develop and communicate enforcement strategies to ensure employees understand safety expectations and consequences of non-compliance.

  • Conduct workplace inspections and audits to evaluate safety performance and identify potential hazards.

  • Ensure all new employees receive comprehensive safety orientation and site-specific training.

  • Prepare, maintain, and review safety documentation, including accident, incident, and first-aid reports.

  • Investigate safety incidents and recommend corrective and preventive actions.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain emergency preparedness and response plans to minimize risks and operational disruptions.

  • Train employees on emergency procedures and ensure all safety policies, manuals, and response plans remain current and understood.
