Key Position Details:

  • 0.8 FTE (64 hours per two-week pay period)
  • 8-hour day shifts (flexible schedule)
  • No weekends
  • Someone with attention to detail and strong communication skills strongly preferred

Job Description:

Reviews clinical documentation and accurately assesses and enters charges for Emergency, Outpatient, and Observation services. Uses medical coding software to assist in the correct capture of all billable charges included in the medical record. Identifies inconsistencies in medical reports and works with leadership and operations staff to improve charge capture and error correction.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Ensures charges are captured in an appropriate and timely manner.
    • Reviews, calculates, and enters charges in the electronic medical record (EMR).
    • Examines financial reports for accuracy edits.
    • Processes and completes charge entry.
    • Ensures charges are compliant with federal regulations.
    • May assist with audits.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description
  • 0 to 2 years of medical terminology experience


Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Associate's or Vocational degree in business, health care, or related field
  • 0 to 2 years of billing experience
  • 0 to 2 years of business office experience

Pay Range

Pay Range: $20.79 to $28.31 per hour

The pay described reflects the base hiring pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
