GDIT is seeking a temporary Sr. Full Stack Engineer to support the National Institute of Health (NIH), National Heart Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) custom software portfolio. The Full Stack Engineer will deliver innovative solutions for improving the effectiveness, reach, and content of these existing software solutions, while reducing their technical debt.
HOW A SENIOR FULL STACK ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
Employs understanding of how to improve existing code bases, while continuing to deliver value to organizations, as well as creating new code bases.
Utilizes strong understanding of industry trends using Agile methodologies for development and deployment processes.
Proposes and advocates for improvements to the codebase.
Provides team and developer guidance to improve overall productivity.
Works across the software life-cycle while emphasizing design and development. (Systems will include PHP/Drupal applications).
Contributes to all parts of the application and testing stack.
Works collaboratively with the team to best realize system requirements, and when appropriate, provides custom implementations to create a compelling experience for system users.
This role is fully remote!
Other responsibilities will include:
Facilitating and explaining high-leverage decisions about architecture and software development.
Supporting a development team’s activities for writing clean, maintainable, testable, and extensible code.
Contributing to all aspects of the Software Development Lifecycle (e.g. Requirements, Design, Development, and Testing).
Collaborating with the team on Agile activities, including estimation, iterative planning and retrospectives.
Managing code and other artifacts using GitHub.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Systems/Technology, Engineering/Engineering Technology or related field
7+ years of relevant experience.
Experience with Java, JavaScript, SQL, PHP and Drupal.
Experience working with and improving existing code bases.
Experience working in an Agile software development environment.
Experience working in NIH/NHLBI environment on PHP/Drupal applications (NHLBI Intranet).
DESIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Junit.
Experience with Git.
