Join our global team of innovators and help shape the future of AI-powered enterprise solutions in a collaborative, high-growth environment where your work creates real-world impact.

Job Description:

The Opportunity

As a Senior Tax Specialist, you'll play a pivotal role in a lean, collaborative five-person department where your contributions directly impact the organization's tax strategy and financial efficiency. This isn't a role where you'll be siloed into one narrow specialty - you'll gain exposure to federal, state, and international tax matters while working alongside colleagues across global locations.

We're in the midst of significant modernization efforts, including automation initiatives that will transform how we approach tax compliance and planning. With direct access to leadership and high visibility across the organization, you'll have the opportunity to shape processes, drive improvements, and potentially grow into a management role. If you're looking for variety, autonomy, and the chance to make a meaningful impact in a collaborative environment, this is your opportunity.

*Please note, an active CPA License is required in this role*

What You Will Do

Tax Compliance & Return Preparation

  • Assist our tax compliance service providers with preparation and filing of federal and state income tax returns, extensions, and payments with minimal supervision

  • Manage international tax components including Forms 5471 and 8858, Section 987, and GILTI calculations

  • Analyze and aggregate data to help compile the annual tax provision under ASC 740, including assessment of uncertain tax positions and tax contingencies under ASC 450

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax obligations

  • Resolve and respond to federal and state tax notices as received

Tax Planning & Analysis

  • Analyze financial data to identify tax savings opportunities and efficiency improvements

  • Provide strategic recommendations to minimize tax liabilities and optimize the organization's tax position

  • Assist in preparation of annual tax forecasts and budgets

  • Conduct research on complex tax issues and interpret evolving tax laws and regulations

  • Stay current on industry trends and best practices in tax planning and compliance

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

  • Partner closely with the VP of Global Tax and cross-functional teams including accounting, legal, and senior management

  • Collaborate with international team members based in Ireland, Portugal, and India

  • Interface with external auditors and tax authorities, providing documentation and addressing inquiries

  • Gather financial information from various departments to support tax filings and analysis

Documentation & Process Improvement

  • Maintain organized, comprehensive records of all tax-related documentation

  • Create and maintain process memos for all tax functions

  • Develop and implement internal controls to ensure accurate and compliant tax reporting

  • Participate in automation initiatives to modernize and streamline tax processes

Risk Management

  • Assess and mitigate tax-related risks across multiple jurisdictions

  • Support efficient resolution of federal and state tax audits

  • Ensure accurate reporting and identify potential compliance issues proactively

What You Have

  • 5+ years of progressive tax experience with demonstrated ownership of complex projects

  • Active CPA license

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in finance, Accounting, or related field

  • Proven experience preparing and filing federal and state income tax returns, extensions, and payments

  • Strong working knowledge of ASC 740 (income tax provision) and ASC 450 (non-income tax provision)

  • Hands-on experience with international tax components: Forms 5471 and 8858, Section 987, and GILTI

  • Comprehensive understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and research skills

  • Strong organizational abilities with proven capacity to manage multiple projects independently

  • Outstanding communication and collaboration skills with an extroverted, team-oriented personality

  • Comfort working in a fully remote environment with distributed teams

  • Attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines

What Sets You Apart

  • Public accounting firm experience (i.e., Big 4, National)

  • Previous experience within a corporate finance department

  • State and local tax (SALT) experience including sales/use tax, property tax, business licenses, and registered agent fees

  • Research & Development (R&D) tax credit experience

  • NetSuite expertise

  • Experience with or interest in tax automation and process improvement initiatives

  • Broad tax background across multiple specialty areas

  • You're an entrepreneurial self-starter who thrives on ownership and autonomy

  • You bring a collaborative, outgoing personality that translates well to remote work—you communicate proactively, build relationships across time zones, and contribute positively to team culture

  • You have a generalist mindset with specialist skills

  • You're technology-forward and improvement-oriented

  • You recognize opportunities to automate manual processes and aren't afraid to challenge the status quo

If you're passionate about embracing innovation, prioritizing accuracy and compliance, achieving targeted performance, and working as a unified team, we encourage you to apply!
