Job description

We are looking for a Sr Buyer to join our Pittsburgh (Cheswick) location.

Your Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will have deep experience in contract law/terms and conditions, along with prior procurement experience.  The individual’s primary role will be to review and negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers, ensuring compliance and favorable terms for the organization.  In addition, the individual will support purchasing activities, including processing of requisitions, requests for quotes, purchase orders, supplier/part status, and supplier relationships. 

Salary: $67,400.00 - $112,400.00 ​ per year

Your Challenge:

  • Departmental lead for evaluating and negotiating contract/business terms and conditions with suppliers.

  • Interfacing with Curtiss Wright Corporate Legal Team as required as part of supplier terms and conditions negotiations and purchase order claims/settlements.

  • Supports procurement activities, including:

    • Evaluates bids, selects and recommends suppliers and negotiates price, delivery, quality and service.

    • Follows up on all awards until completion of order.

    • Negotiates and settles with suppliers regarding damage claims, rejections, return of materials, over-shipments, cancellations and engineering changes.

    • Responsible for complying with corporate policies, procedures and underlying Federal, state and/or local regulations concerning the purchase or shipment of goods, materials, or services.

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or related field and 6+ years of purchasing experience preferably in a manufacturing environment.

  • Advanced working knowledge of contract law and business terms and conditions.

  • Government procurement experience preferred.

  • Ability to make decisions or suggestions based on rules or procedures.

  • Problem solving skills in situations in which prior experience with similar problems has shown which choice is most appropriate, selecting from known alternatives.

  • Experience with ERP Systems with Oracle ERP system preferred.

  • Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office programs.

  • Organized, self-motivated, proactive and results-oriented; ability to multi-task.

  • Have a good sense for priority setting and time management; ability to plan and deliver against project deadlines.

  • Ability to work individually with minimal supervision or with a team.

  • Build and maintain effective and productive relationships with key stakeholders, suppliers and auditors

  • Strong negotiation, communication, interpersonal and influencing skills.

  • Keen attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Due to DoD requirements, candidates must be US citizens.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain DOD security clearance.
