Company Overview

A well-established US-based bookkeeping and tax practice servicing a diverse client base across multiple industries, primarily within California. The business provides professional accounting, bookkeeping and tax support services to small and medium-sized businesses and is currently expanding following the acquisition of an additional client portfolio. The environment is fast-paced, service-driven and highly detail-oriented, requiring strong technical bookkeeping capability and the ability to manage multiple client accounts independently.

Role Summary

An experienced Senior Bookkeeper is required to manage full-cycle bookkeeping functions across a portfolio of US-based clients. The successful candidate will work primarily within QuickBooks Online and will be responsible for reconciliations, financial reporting support, payroll-related bookkeeping functions and maintaining accurate financial records to US standards. This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical accounting knowledge, excellent organisational skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle bookkeeping across multiple client accounts
  • Maintain accurate financial records and bookkeeping systems
  • Perform bank, credit card and loan reconciliations
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and profit & loss reporting
  • Reconcile undeposited funds and gross up sales reports from net deposits
  • Work with multiple POS systems and financial data sources
  • Support payroll journal reconciliation and payroll-related bookkeeping functions
  • Liaise with clients professionally regarding bookkeeping matters
  • Maintain bookkeeping accuracy in line with US accounting standards
  • Assist with month-end and year-end bookkeeping processes
  • Utilise AI and automation tools effectively to improve efficiency while maintaining accuracy

Requirements

  • QuickBooks Online Certified
  • Minimum 5 years of full-time bookkeeping experience
  • Strong US bookkeeping and US data-capture experience
  • Experience servicing multiple industries
  • Advanced QuickBooks Online proficiency with recent hands-on usage
  • Strong understanding of balance sheet reconciliations
  • Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, assets, liabilities and loan reconciliations
  • Experience with payroll journals and payroll reconciliation processes
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting and bookkeeping best practices
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Reliable high-speed internet connection and professional home-office setup
  • Minimum dual-screen setup with dedicated workspace
  • Willingness to work US Pacific working hours on a permanent basis
