Overview:

We are designing the grid of the future! 

As a Principal Electrical Engineer, Data Center at Electric Power Engineers (EPE), you will lead the design, implementation, and lifecycle support of mission-critical electrical systems for hyperscale data centers. Your work will directly safeguard uptime, optimize efficiency, and maintain the highest safety standards across EPE’s fastgrowing global portfolio.

 

Responsibilities:

How you can make an impact:

  • Engineer medium‑ and low‑voltage power distribution, UPS and generator backup, and emergency power systems for high‑density loads.
  • Produce and review one‑line diagrams, schematics, Bills of Materials, and installation drawings.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations, including National Electric Code (NEC) and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards
  • Work closely with mechanical, civil, controls, and IT teams to define project requirements, design criteria, and budgets.
  • Provide technical leadership during design reviews, value‑engineering sessions, factory acceptance tests (FAT), and on‑site inspections.
  • Analyze electrical systems to identify and resolve issues, including load balancing, capacity planning, and power consumption optimization
  • Stay up-to-date with advancements in data center technologies, and recommend new technologies to improve the reliability and efficiency of our data center infrastructure

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering plus 10+ years of progressive experience in data‑center or other mission‑critical electrical design; active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license. Master is preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of power‑distribution architecture, UPS/generator systems, grounding/bonding, and protective‑device coordination for ≥ 20 MW facilities.
  • Demonstrated success delivering data‑center projects from concept through commissioning, including field construction support.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, codes, and regulations, including NEC and IEC standards

Location: This position is remote US or Canada
