POSITION SUMMARY

The primary duties of a Lead or Foreman are to supervise, direct and assign work, provide mentorship, assistance, instruction, feedback, leadership, and guidance to represented employees in all job classifications, while maintaining constructive relationships with customers, employees, peers, and management, leading by example.  These duties are performed in a variety of areas such as an office, call center, retail, workshop, warehouse, outdoor storage yard, garage, outside equipment yard, and offsite locations.

Lead or Foreman for all Classifications

  • May assist with tasks of classifications assigned.

  • Assess department and Company objectives to prioritize and schedule workloads when necessary, assign staff and coordinate projects to ensure timely, efficient completion of tasks.

  • Assess business requirements and participate in initiatives to develop, document and implement consistent practices, policies, and procedures to support the goals and objectives of the Company.

  • Provide leadership to staff to achieve/exceed goals and performance targets, provide training to staff to consistently meet or exceed customer expectations in each customer touch point.  Provide appropriate training, coaching, or corrective action if target goals are not achieved.

  • Monitor and evaluate staff goals and performance targets at least monthly; provide appropriate training, coaching, or correct action if target goals are not achieved.

  • Provide leadership and coaching to bring out and enhance the best attributes of each employee. Maintain a positive work environment, teach and reinforce positive employee behaviors, immediately address and correct unacceptable behaviors.

  • Identify workplace problems and take corrective action in accordance with Company policy.

  • Respond and immediately report accidents or incidents. Investigate accidents or incidents to determine cause(s) and take actions or make recommendations to reduce future risk. Cooperate with Safety personnel to minimize losses associated with accidents or incidents.

  • Protect the Company's employees, assets, customers, and vendors by establishing and maintaining a clean, orderly, and safe work environment. Minimize accident­ related losses, to include: identifying and correcting unsafe working conditions; conducting regular safety meetings and ensuring staff receives individual and group training as appropriate to address safety concerns.

  • With Manager approval, conduct and/or assist in employee investigation, recommend and prepare disciplinary action, implement discipline. Ensure employees comply with Company policies and procedures and take appropriate action.

  • Assure department and/or work group(s) expenditures remain within budgetary limitations in the areas of labor and staffing related costs, supply and work device related costs, as well as any inventory and/or cash assigned to specific locations.  If assigned, regular audits of cash funds and inventory on hand must be completed and variances reported to proper authority.

  • Post and monitor schedules to adequately cover all needed shifts for assigned location(s).  Post and assign shifts on a quarterly basis (as per CBA).   Schedule and post yearly vacation bids.  Evaluate and determine outcome of incidental vacation requests, taking into consideration business needs.

  • Determine staffing levels and needs per assigned location(s), evaluate for any Overtime and offer to appropriate work groups.  Manage and maintain Overtime list(s). Re-assign staff to locations to accommodate call outs or unscheduled absences,

  • create and assign shift bids based upon hours of operation, customer traffic, performance and seniority.

  • Recruit and/or assists to recruit qualified candidates for positions consistent with Company policies and procedures.

  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience Required

  • High school diploma or GED and two (2) years of progressively responsible duties in a supervisory capacity, with at least one (1) year in a customer service or telecommunications industry. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. In order to perform the daily work of any of the positions reporting to them, the Lead or Foreman must meet the minimum qualifications of for the position(s) work they will perform. Must also meet the Minimum Qualifications of the main classification that regularly reports to posted Lead or Foreman position.

  • Preferred Qualifications:  If a journeyman level position or higher will report to the posted Lead or Foreman position, meeting the Minimum Qualifications of a journeyman level position would be preferred.

Certifications and Licenses Required

  • Possess and maintain a valid Alaska Driver's License. In addition, some positions may require the possession and maintenance of an Alaska Commercial Driver's License (COL) Class A or B, as well as a valid Certificate of Medical Examination (Medical Card), and pass a Drug and Alcohol Background check.

  • Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certification.

Additional Requirements

  • Some applicants may require successfully passing a keyboarding test at 30 WPM.

  • Tests completed within the past 12 months from the date of application will be accepted.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as the ability to understand and use a variety of software applications.

  • External applicants must successfully pass a pre-employment suitability assessment and drug test.
