Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and proactive individual to support the Client’s data center migration governance requirement as a Data Center Migration Program Director. The resource should be based in Miami, FL or nearby South Florida and available for in-person client meetings as needed. The role combines local account leadership with practical migration advisory experience, helping ISG build client confidence, coordinate stakeholders, support proposal and SOW refinement, and guide multi-wave migration planning, readiness gates, migration event governance and post-migration hypercare.
Responsibilities
Data Center Migration Advisory: Provide SME guidance on data center exits, co-location moves, workload bundling, dependency mapping, wave planning, cutover readiness, command centers and hypercare.
Client Relationship Management: Serve as a local, trusted point of contact for Client’s executives, technology leaders and business stakeholders; maintain clear communication and relationship continuity.
Requirement Shaping and Account Growth: Support pursuit strategy, proposal refinement, SOW assumptions, commercial discussions and identification of follow-on advisory or governance opportunities.
Governance and Delivery Assurance: Participate in governance forums, steering updates and program reviews; drive RAID management, decision logs, escalation paths and go/no-go discipline.
Vendor and Stakeholder Coordination: Coordinate with Client’s teams, migration vendors and ISG resources to clarify ownership, dependencies, deliverables, acceptance criteria and open actions.
Executive Reporting and Communications: Prepare client-ready materials, status updates, risk summaries and decision papers that translate technical complexity into business impact.
Migration Event and Hypercare Support: Support critical migration windows as needed, including issue severity, escalation tracking, variance monitoring, closure evidence and lessons learned.
Required Skillsets
Based in Miami, FL or nearby South Florida, with ability to attend client meetings and support local relationship management as required.
15+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, data center migration, enterprise technology consulting, governance services, account leadership or related advisory roles; 20+ years preferred.
Demonstrated experience with complex data center migration programs, including multi-wave migrations, data center exits, physical and virtual infrastructure moves, application dependencies, cutover and hypercare.
Strong understanding of enterprise infrastructure domains, including compute, virtualization, storage, backup, database, network, firewall, identity, monitoring, security, ITSM and change management.
Proven client relationship and account leadership experience, including executive stakeholder management, consultative selling, proposal support and commercial follow-through.
Ability to facilitate governance forums, manage escalations, drive action closure, create executive-ready materials and communicate delivery risk in clear business language.
Experience with vendor governance, deliverable acceptance, obligation tracking, RAID controls, service transition, change control and account governance within complex technology programs.
Availability to support occasional migration-window activities outside standard business hours and local or limited travel as required by the requirement.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field (master’s degree preferred).
PMP, PgMP, ITIL, cloud, infrastructure, security, network or data center certifications preferred, but practical migration and client leadership experience is most important.
