Senior Backend Engineer - Stellar Ecosystem

We are on a mission to make multi-chain DeFi accessible to everyone — building the unified infrastructure that connects traditional financial institutions, fintechs, and service providers to on-chain liquidity across major blockchains. This is a newly created, niche role sitting at the intersection of backend engineering and the Stellar ecosystem — and it is an opportunity to shape something from the ground up.

The Role

You'll lead the design, development, and maintenance of scalable backend systems and APIs, working closely with product, frontend, and infrastructure teams. You'll bring deep TypeScript expertise and real-world Stellar network experience to a team that moves fast, codes to a high standard, and cares deeply about what it builds.

Current stack: Node.js, TypeScript, Docker, MongoDB, Redis, Kubernetes, AWS, CloudFlare

What You'll Do

• Architect and build robust, scalable backend systems and APIs
• Own performance optimisation, monitoring, and reliability across backend services
• Maintain high coding standards through reviews, documentation, and best practices
• Develop comprehensive test suites across unit, integration, and end-to-end testing
• Mentor junior developers and contribute to a strong engineering culture

What You Bring

• Strong, production-grade TypeScript experience — this is non-negotiable
• Hands-on experience working with the Stellar network in production environments
• Solid background in the blockchain or Web3/DeFi space
• Senior or lead-level backend engineering experience
• Strong understanding of document databases and caching mechanisms
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
• Based in EMEA — or APAC with willingness to overlap with EU hours

Preferred:

• Experience with Stellar's Soroban smart contracts
• Familiarity with the EVM ecosystem or other blockchain networks
• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
