Job Duties:

The Social Work program at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh invites applications for a full-time, academic-year, Teaching Assistant Professor position. This role offers an exciting opportunity to join a CSWE-accredited program within the School of Nursing and Health Professions. Our school prepares students to lead and serve in today’s rapidly evolving healthcare landscape. With a strong emphasis on evidence-based practice, interprofessional collaboration, and hands-on training, we foster a holistic approach to care that empowers graduates to make a lasting impact in clinical and community settings.

The successful candidate will primarily teach in the Master of Social Work programs, delivering live and hybrid courses. Teaching responsibilities will include core curriculum areas such as micro and macro practice, ethics, diversity, policy, research methods, and field seminars. In addition to teaching, the faculty member will actively contribute to departmental and university service.

The start date for this academic year position will be August of 2026, and will continue through the Spring 2027 semester. Additional contracts past the first year are possible.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction, including assessment of student performance
  • Advises students on academic and career direction within a specific field of study
  • Contributes to the strategic development of curriculum and academic content through various mediums to ensure the integrity of the educational mission of the work unit
  • Contributes to the development of teaching and learning scholarly work including publications and presentations
  • Develops and designs curriculum and instructional material relevant to a course of instruction
  • Collaborates with department faculty and staff to develop teaching strategies relevant to the discipline
  • May supervise student employees involved in development or delivery of instruction

Required Qualifications:

  • Master of Social Work (MSW) degree

  • Minimum of two years of post-MSW social work practice experience

  • Qualifications to teach in at least two of the following subjects: social work micro/macro practice, policy, ethics, diversity, human behavior in the social environment, or research methods; demonstrated either through previous teaching experience or previous work experience.

  • Proven experience contributing to a collaborative work environment through effective communication and teamwork.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience with teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level

  • Clinical practice experience

  • Ability to teach clinical practice courses demonstrated through previous teaching experience

  • Qualified for Licensed Clinical Social Work (LCSW) in Wisconsin
