  • Participate in agile processes (Scrum or Kanban) and monitor applications using CloudWatch and Datadog to ensure performance and reliability
  • Refactor code and apply SOLID principles to continuously improve software quality; explore and apply AI tooling to augment development practices

Job description

Purpose of Position

Weʼre looking for an enthusiastic Junior Software Engineer for a new team in our Advertiser tribe to accelerate the delivery of our brand new Affiliate Marketing platform.

The Team

This role is within Team Argonauts in our Advertiser Tribe, part of the Growth Domain. This team are dedicated to serve our Advertisers by building the high value features that they need in our new Affiliate Marketing platform. Team Argonauts is a brand new team - a mix between new hires and new joiners from other teams. This gives you the opportunity to do more than just code and create great software. Youʼll be able to support your new colleagues, influence ways of working and best practices, and establish the culture in this new team. Along with access to the OʼReilly learning platform, hackathons, and cross-team initiatives, will provide plenty of opportunities to learn and gain experience from people in the many other teams across the engineering organisation at Awin

Required

  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience in commercial Software Engineering roles
  • Some experience working with front-end code, ideally using Angular
  • Good experience in developing cloud software using: AWS services, Typescript, Java, Docker
  • An enthusiasm for using and finding new ways to use AI tools to augment software development practices.
  • Experience using Git for source control
  • Passion for writing elegant code and a desire to constantly refactor and improve, with a good understanding of the SOLID principles
  • Experience in implementing RESTful APIs within a microservices architecture
  • Ability to write unit tests and maintain CI/CD pipelines
  • Familiar with agile processes eg. Scrum or Kanban. Experience in monitoring applications (preferably using Cloudwatch and Datadog).

Nice to Have

  • Experience with information security, able to design and implement solutions with mitigation against security threats
  • Some experience of TDD and Pair Programming practices
  • Experience working with PHP, including building and maintaining web applications
