About Us

The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) is charged with implementing the state's public school laws for pre-kindergarten through 12th grade public schools at the direction of the State Superintendent of Public Instruction and State Board of Education.

Description of Work

The IDEA Monitoring Consultant: Fiscal is responsible for conducting financial oversight of programs to ensure compliance with federal and state IDEA requirements. Additionally, the position collaborates with program staff and stakeholders to promote sound financial management and ensure effective use of IDEA resources while aligning fiscal and programmatic priorities to improve outcomes for students with disabilities.

Job Responsibilities:

Reviews budgets, expenditures, and fiscal practices to verify that funds are used appropriately and align with grant regulations.

Supports PSU with alignment of fiscal and programmatic priorities.

Provides technical assistance and professional development specific to IDEA grants and special grants.

Collaborates with various staff and stakeholders to promote sound financial management and ensure effective and allowable use of IDEA funds.

Identifies risks, provides technical assistance, and supports corrective actions to improve fiscal accountability.

Recruitment Range: $63,927.00 - $85,000.00

Manager Preferences:  

  • Experience in special education leadership/supervision (policy and programs).
  • Experience in writing federal grants and program plans.
  • Special Education licensure.
