Job description

Job Title: Transmission AnalystDepartment: Market Operations
Reports to: Manager, Transmission & SystemsEffective Date: May 2026
Location: Houston, TX, Albany, NY, NYC, or RemoteTravel: Up to 10%

POSITION PURPOSE:  
This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Manager, Transmission & Systems. This individual will use power flow modeling, production cost models, and other analytical tools to support KCE's active development portfolio, to optimize interconnection costs for new project development, and to support market performance for KCE's operating portfolio. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Scope, run and automate studies using power flow models and other tools in support of key decision points for new and existing BESS development projects across multiple geographic areas.
  • Assist with scoping and interpretation of third-party power flow and production cost studies.
  • Produce internal memos and presentations on transmission upgrade costs associated with existing development projects.
  • Executive production cost model studies to support broad market theses, commercial opportunities, and nearer-term price forecasting.
  • Identify and implement improvements to short-term price forecasts.
  • Build and maintain internal work aids and automation to assist with above responsibilities.
  • All other duties as required.

WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Preferred; Master's degree in electrical engineering or 2 years of experience in electrical engineering, planning, or operations in the power sector.
  • Experience with power flow and production cost modeling tools (e.g., Siemens PSSE, PowerWorld Simulator, PROMOD, Dayzer)
  • Proficient in Python, SQL, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work in a small team
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills

Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of working at a computer
