Roles & Responsibilities

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school with 3-5 years of related experience and/or training (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience troubleshooting and repairing Ethernet/IP networks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong customer service orientation.
  • Experience with Juniper and/or Cisco routing equipment (Juniper preferred); knowledge of Ethernet switching, IP routing, BGP, MPLS, Spanning Tree, DWDM, and related TCP/IP/telecom practices.

Requirements:

  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and repair Ethernet and IP equipment and associated protocols including BGP, MPLS, and Spanning Tree.
  • Effectively communicate with customers, other service providers, and Zayo personnel to quickly isolate and resolve network and service issues.
  • Document work efforts and troubleshooting status in the trouble ticketing system and perform maintenance/repair activities.
  • Work nights and/or weekends as scheduled; operate both independently and as part of a team, with escalation to management as needed.

Zayo is seeking a Global Network Operations NOC II Technician to primarily be responsible for the surveillance and repair of a large multinational Ethernet and IP network consisting of routers and switches from a variety of vendors with Juniper being the most widely deployed technology.

Our Global Network Operations NOC II Technician applicants must have at least 3 years of experience working with Juniper or Cisco routing equipment and be knowledgeable on common Ethernet and IP protocols to include BGP, MPLS, and Spanning Tree. Our Global Network Operations NOC II Technician must also have demonstrated customer service experience and be an effective communicator able to interact with customers both verbally and in writing to troubleshoot and resolve service issues.

Responsibilities:

  • Must have Juniper and/or Cisco router experience. (Juniper preferred.)

  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and repair Ethernet and IP equipment and associated protocols to include BGP, MPLS, Spanning Tree, and others.

  • Effectively communicate with customers, other communications providers and Zayo Bandwidth employees & organizations to quickly isolate and resolve network and customer issues.

  • Document work efforts and troubleshooting status in trouble ticketing system, and perform maintenance/repair activities.

  • Interact with customers to provide a high level of customer satisfaction.

  • Work nights and/or weekends as scheduled.

  • Work well as a part of a team as well as be able to perform as an individual with minimal supervision.

  • Ensure that all customer issues on scheduled shift are handled in a timeline manner, escalating to upper management as necessary.

  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.

Schedule: This role has a varied work schedule.

Back Half: Wed to Saturday/ 7 am to 7 pm for a few months.
The schedule may change (with ample notice) to:
Front Half: Sunday - Wednesday 7:00 AM - 7PM.
Finally, there may be a Night Shift option, as well. 

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and three to five (3 - 5) years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in the troubleshooting and repair of Ethernet & IP networks.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Great customer service skills.

  • Effective problem solving and interpersonal skills.

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio.

  • Experience with trouble ticketing and circuit inventory software.

  • Knowledge of the following Transmission and TCP/IP standard telecommunication practices and technologies:

    • Ethernet Switching

    • IP Routing

    • BGP

    • MPLS

    • Spanning Tree

    • Dense Wave Division Multiplexing (DWDM)

    • Domain Name Servers (DMS)

    • RFC2544 Ethernet Testing

Estimated base pay range for this role is $22.45 - $34.51 USD / hour, commensurate with experience.

The base pay range shown is a guideline and reasonable estimate for this role. It takes into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions. Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted range based upon geographic location, work experience, skill level, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Non- sales roles may be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive plan. Sales roles may be eligible to participate in a sales incentive plan.

Additionally, this position may be eligible for certain benefits, such as health insurance, life insurance, disability retirement plans, paid time off.

The posting will be active for a minimum of 3 days. The active posting will continue to extend by 3 days until the position is filled.
