  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of credentialing standards including NCQA, JCAHO, NPDB guidelines, and general licensing requirements.

Requirements:

  • Process and prepare hospital medical staff privilege applications, examine, research, enter data, and gather required clinician documentation; monitor progress and follow up to meet deadlines.
  • Maintain and ensure accuracy of electronic clinician credentialing files; track licensure, DEA certification, malpractice coverage, renewals; enroll clinicians in NPDB Continuous Query; update internal databases.
  • Track credentialing committee, Medical Executive Committee, and Board meeting dates to ensure timely approvals; maintain consistent communication with clinicians throughout each stage of the credentialing process.
  • Coordinate onboarding and operational support, including hospital orientation scheduling; participate in internal matrix/implementation calls; collaborate with Payor Enrollment and internal teams to support documentation and compliance.

Hourly Compensation Range: $28.00 - $30.00 per hour, Full-Time, Benefit Eligible

About this Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Credentialing Specialist to join our Credentialing team. This role is responsible for managing all aspects of the credentialing and reappointment process for clinicians within an assigned book of business. The Credentialing Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring clinicians are properly credentialed and privileged in accordance with hospital medical staff bylaws and regulatory standards, enabling them to provide care across designated hospital programs.

As a Credentialing Specialist, your work directly supports patient access to high-quality care by ensuring clinicians meet regulatory and hospital standards. You’ll be part of a collaborative team that values accuracy, accountability, and strong professional relationships across clinicians, medical staff offices, and internal departments.

What You’ll Do

Privileging & Reappointments

  • Process and prepare hospital medical staff privilege applications.

  • Examine, research, enter data, and gather required clinician documentation to support the credentialing process.

  • Complete credentialing and reappointment applications, monitor progress, and follow up to meet critical deadlines.

  • Obtain and verify documentation including medical education, residency, fellowship, NPDB, work history, and peer references.

  • Track hospital credentialing committee, Medical Executive Committee, and Board meeting dates to ensure timely approvals.

  • Maintain consistent communication with clinicians throughout each stage of the credentialing process  

Clinician Record Management

  • Maintain and ensure accuracy of electronic clinician credentialing files.

  • Track medical licensure, DEA certification, malpractice coverage, and required renewals.

  • Enroll clinicians in NPDB Continuous Query.

  • Update internal databases (CRM, SharePoint, and other systems) to maintain current practitioner and facility data  

Onboarding & Operational Support

  • Coordinate hospital orientation scheduling and communicate hospital training requirements.

  • Participate in internal matrix and implementation calls to provide credentialing updates.

  • Collaborate with internal teams, including Payor Enrollment, to support documentation and compliance needs  

What You Bring

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of credentialing experience.

  • High School Diploma required; Associate’s degree preferred.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • High attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, high-volume work.

  • Working knowledge of credentialing standards including NCQA, JCAHO, NPDB guidelines, and general licensing requirements  

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) credential.

  • Experience in a Medical Staff Office environment.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access).

  • Experience with QGenda software.

  • Understanding of medical terminology
