Overview

We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Florida Licensed Plans Examiner to join our growing Third-Party Private Provider Inspection Team as we embark on unprecedented growth and expansion. The Plans Examiner will be responsible for reviewing and approving construction plans to ensure compliance with the Florida Building Code and other applicable regulations, ensuring safety and quality of the projects. Primary Responsibilities

  • Review and evaluate construction plans, specifications, and related documents for compliance with the Florida Building Code and other relevant state and local regulations.
  • Maintain comprehensive project records, including plan review results, comments, and documentation required for municipal approvals.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to explain plan review findings, code requirements, and necessary revisions.
  • Foster and develop strong professional relationships with Construction Managers, municipal building department staff, and other personnel.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Florida building codes, regulations, and standards to ensure accurate and compliant plan reviews.


Additional Duties and Responsibilities Include the Following

  • Assisting with other service lines, including but not limited to providing technical support for inspections, performing building code inspections and quality assurance inspections.
  • Collaborating with inspection teams to ensure consistency between plan reviews and field inspections.

Requirements

Education, Experience, and Desired Qualifications

  • Valid Florida Plans Examiner License.
  • Valid Florida Driver License.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience related to plan review for code compliance.
  • Customer service oriented with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting construction plans, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Ability to work independently (but fully supported) and manage multiple plan reviews efficiently.
  • Strong comfort level using technology, including computers, tablets, and smartphones.


Supervisory Responsibility: None


Work Environment: Office-based with occasional field visits as needed.


Physical Demands

· Ability to work in a seated position for extended periods.

· Ability to lift 20 pounds.

· Ability to visit construction sites as needed, which may involve climbing stairs or navigating uneven surfaces.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

Part-Time Hourly Position with maximum of 30 Hours / Week


Travel: Local travel required within approximately 2 hours of primary location. Occasional travel out of primary market location as required.
