Roles & Responsibilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience designing and managing capital projects in regulated industries (medical device, nutrition, pharmaceutical) with a proven track record delivering large-scale projects (>$2.5MM).
  • Proficiency in MS Project, AutoCAD, SAP, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong understanding of GMP regulations, construction codes, and validation processes; experience with contractor selection, procurement, and performance management; IL PE and/or PMP certification is a plus.

Requirements:

  • Lead planning and execution of complex facility expansion projects.
  • Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders; manage internal engineering teams and external service providers (design firms, contractors, suppliers).
  • Oversee project budgets, schedules, and documentation to ensure timely and compliant delivery; conduct constructability reviews, risk assessments, and value engineering.
  • Ensure adherence to GMP, safety, and quality standards throughout project lifecycle; support commissioning, qualification, and turnover; drive continuous improvement.

The Opportunity

This position works out of our Abbott Park, IL location. This is not a remote role.

The Project Manager, Construction will manage a campuswide portfolio of large-scale facility and utility maintenance, repair, and expansion projects in a highly regulated environment.  This role encompasses strategic planning, execution, and delivery of GMP-compliant capital projects including new builds, retrofits, and utility installations.  The Project Manager will ensure alignment with regulatory standards, safety protocols, and business objectives while managing cross-functional teams and external contractors.

What You’ll Work On

  • Maintain effective communication with stakeholders and regulatory bodies.

  • Drive continuous improvement and sustainability initiatives.

  • Utilize tools such as MS Project, AutoCAD, SAP for project tracking and reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.

  • IL PE Certification is a plus.

  • PMP Certification is a plus.

  • 10+ years of experience designing and managing capital projects in regulated industries (medical device, nutrition, pharmaceutical).

  • Proven track record of delivering large-scale projects (> $2.5MM).

  • Strong understanding of GMP regulations, construction codes, and validation processes.

  • Experience in contractor selection, procurement, and performance management.

  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Skills

The base pay for this position is

$99,300.00 – $198,700.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
