Requirements:

  • Perform VMware system administration, troubleshooting, configuration, and maintenance in enterprise vSphere environments.
  • Conduct vulnerability remediation, ensure DoD compliance, and perform daily system monitoring, backups/restores, and application upgrades.
  • Document changes in government systems and brief the customer on system status, optimization, and improvement efforts.
  • Assist deployment of new virtual machines and manage virtualization environments, including patching, break/fix activities, and system log reviews.

Job description

INNOVIM is seeking a Virtualization Engineer/Administrator supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for
Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract.

Location: Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado Springs, CO
Relocation Assistance: None available at this time
Shift: Day shift
Core duty hours are 0900 ‐ 1500 hours with flexibility to arrive earlier/later Monday ‐ Friday

The candidate will:

  • Work on complex assignments and perform a wide range of VMware system administration activities with little to no direct supervision.
  • Provide root-cause analysis for recurring or critical problems.
  • Work closely with a team of system administrators, network engineers, and cybersecurity administrators to maintain a highquality test environment for the Government customer.
  • Perform vulnerability remediation and mitigations to reduce cybersecurity risks and ensure DoD compliance.
  • Conduct daily system monitoring, system backup and restoral, and application upgrades to ensure optimal and continuous system operations.
  • Document necessary system changes and actions in appropriate systems of record to ensure historical data is captured per customer and mission requirements.
  • Advise Government customer on system status, optimization and improvement efforts in accordance with program objectives and design baselines as needed.
  • Assist system administration team with the deployment of new virtual machines.
  • Perform administration of virtualization environments to include troubleshooting, break/fix activities, the patching and remediation of servers, and system audit log reviews as needed.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a strong understanding of troubleshooting and configuration of VMware to include protocols and switching, best-practice configurations, connectivity, and networking concepts.
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated experience briefing customers and management.

Basic Requirements:

  • Must have 10, or more, years of general (full-time) work experience, which may be reduced with completion of advanced education
  • Must have 5, or more, years of directly related experience
  • Must have 1, or more, years of experience working in a management or leadership role
  • Must have experience installing vCenter Server Appliance including configuration and updates.
  • Must have experience with VMware vSphere 7.0 or higher, to include building, configuring, managing and troubleshooting virtual machines in enterprise-level environments.
  • Must have experience with software-defined networking (SDN).
  • Must have a current DoD approved 8570 Level II certification such as Security+ CE
  • Must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance

Desired Requirements:

  • Have a demonstrated understanding of the project management lifecycle and related processes.
  • Have experience performing root cause analysis
  • Have experience configuring and managing HPE server products
  • Be familiar with automation tools or scripting (e.g., PowerCLI, Ansible).
  • Have a VMware Certified Technical Associate or VMware Certified Professional certification.
  • Have knowledge of Missile Defense, DoD communications systems and MDIOC operations.
  • Have a degree in an IT or Engineering related discipline

This position is expected to pay $130,000 – $145,000 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.
