This is a temporary position and will only run until the end of August and will NOT convert to a permanent position.
Must have Hospice and Coding experience to be considered.
Compensation: $20.00 - $22.00
Hours: Monday - Friday 8AM - 5PM EST or CST.
The Medical Coder is accountable for reviewing documentation in the patient medical record in order to code based on Medicare requirements, including ICD-10 guidelines. The Hospice Quality Coding specialist has a strong focus on quality and accuracy. Ensures all regulatory and best practices are met with quality documentation, and achievement of key performance indicators. Accountable for coding hospice episodes based on ICD-10 guidelines, with a strong focus on the integrity of the patient’s medical record. Strong attention to detail and timeliness are essential to the role. Knowledge of all regulatory, best practice and organizational policies and processes are key components of success for this role.
Completes ICD-10 coding of hospice episodes based on medical history, physician input and up-to-date ICD-10 coding guidelines.
Maintains current knowledge of, and causes, compliance with all federal, state and local regulations.
Performs other duties as assigned.

High school diploma required. College work in business or related field preferred.
ICD-10 Coding certified or pending certification.
Minimum of two (2) years office or related experience. Healthcare environment preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of the appropriate skills for communicating with individuals of all ages, especially the geriatric population. Excellent interpersonal skills including excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong proficiency in computer and software skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Working knowledge of personnel management, record keeping, and office administration.
Proven ability to set and achieve objectives and to find increasingly efficient ways to perform tasks.
Completes work with a high level of accuracy and within organization time frames.
Self-motivated, requiring minimal supervision and capable of working independently.
Adheres to organization infection control and safety policies, including reporting issues related to infection control and safety, and demonstrates use of infection control and safety policies in job position.
Must have and maintain in good standing professional license, certificate, or registration, as applicable.
