Roles & Responsibilities

  • Proven experience in systems integration and/or software development, with ability to liaise with multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure components (Azure SQL, Azure Analysis Services, Synapse) and handling large datasets.
  • Experience implementing ETL solutions using Qlik Replicate and Qlik Compose, and designing data warehouses (Kimball dimensional modeling).
  • Strong database development skills (SQL) in Azure SQL, Synapse or Databricks, with experience in data quality tools (Informatica Data Quality) and Agile software methodologies.

Requirements:

  • Design, develop, and architect software products and extensions for customer requirements; create ETL mappings/workflows using Qlik or Informatica; produce technical, architectural, and installation artifacts.
  • Mentor Software Engineers and lead code reviews; provide technical guidance and ensure quality by adhering to standards; design and implement data loading rules and data models.
  • Support technical consulting activities for pharmaceutical clients; design and support clinical trials information sharing solutions; assist with release management and live deployments ( SVN ).
  • Design, implement, and optimize data integration pipelines and data warehouses; ensure performance, security, and integration with Azure/Synapse/Databricks; provide ongoing application support for existing products.

Key Accountabilities:
 

Data analysis:

  • Applies data analysis, data modelling, and quality assurance techniques, based upon a detailed understanding of business processes, to establish, modify or maintain data structures and associated components (entity descriptions, relationship descriptions, attribute definitions). Advises database designers and other application development team members on the details of data structures and associated components.

Database design:

  • Develops and maintains specialist knowledge of database concepts, object and data modelling techniques and design principles and a detailed knowledge of database architectures, software and facilities. Analyses data requirements to establish, modify or maintain object/data models. Evaluates potential solutions, demonstrating, installing and commissioning selected products.

Programming/ software development:

  • Designs, codes, tests, corrects and documents complex programs and scripts from agreed specifications, and subsequent iterations, using agreed standards and tools, to achieve a well-engineered result. Takes part in reviews of own work and leads reviews of colleagues' work.

Systems design:

  • Specifies user/system interfaces and translates logical designs into physical designs taking account of target environment, performance security requirements and existing systems. Produces detailed designs and documents all work using required standards, methods and tools, including prototyping tools where appropriate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop ETL mappings and workflows using Qlik or Informatica.

  • Develop technical specifications for data loading rules.

  • Mentor and provide technical guidance for Software Engineers.

  • Design, implement, and architect software products.

  • Design, implement, and architect product extensions for customer specific requirements.

  • Adhere to and produce artifacts (technical specifications, architectural specifications, data models, installation and qualification guides, and release notes) for the software development process.

  • Support technical consulting activities to clients in the pharmaceutical industry.

  • Design and support clinical trials information sharing solutions.

  • Provide application support for existing products.

  • Help with release management, using versioning tools such as SVN, and executing live deployments.

Skills:

  • Understanding of common system architecture frameworks and concepts.

  • Technical awareness of Security and Application Software Development.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Proven relevant experience in systems integration and implementation, or software development, or a related discipline.

  • Demonstrated ability to liaise with multiple stakeholders.

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure components in particular, Azure SQL, Azure Analysis Services, Synapse.

  • Experience implementing ETL solutions, particularly utilizing Qlik Replicate and Compose. 

  • Strong Database Development Skills, particularly implementing SQL solutions in Azure SQL, Synapse or Databricks. environments. Good experience with large datasets.

  • Experience improving Data Quality in Data Warehouses, particularly utilizing Informatica Data Quality.

  • Experience testing ETL solutions, particularly utilizing Informatica DVO product.

  • Experience using Enterprise Architecture modeling tools, frameworks and methodologies such as TOGAF, SPARX EA, UML, BPMN, ArchiMate etc.

  • Experience Designing Data Warehouses, applying Kimball’s Dimensional Modeling Techniques, Architecting ETL systems.

  • Experience working in Agile development software methodology, authoring technical documents / specifications.

  • Experience debugging complex software systems.

  • Significant experience implementing data-driven systems with large-scale relational or object-oriented databases. 

  • Ability to work in a high pressure, result/deadline-oriented environment.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in technical discipline (Math’s, Science, Engineering, Computing, etc.) or a related study, or equivalent project-related experience.
