Job Summary:

Website design encompasses a large percentage of the Experience Design team’s offerings, but other opportunities like designing for brands, print, and other digital deliverables are often available to all designers who possess strong skill sets and understanding in those areas. A Sr. Digital Designer is able to approach any project, assess and understand the scope, and match their design and effort to the scope of work. No matter the budget, all work is free of error and well thought out. As a Sr. Digital Designer, there is also more responsibility to understand our offerings, capabilities, and the technical detail that should inform their work. Sr. Digital Designers are trusted to work more independently, with less oversight from art directors, but they should be able to display a strong understanding of their outlined responsibilities.

What Your Impact Will Look Like:
  • Has expert-level knowledge of Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, and other design tools, softwares, or applications.
  • Works independently with direction from their art director and can maintain work that is of high quality and free of error, with little to no oversight from an art director.
  • Work showcases attention to visual hierarchy, typographical hierarchy, and color theory. Designs websites that are optimized for improved website performance.
  • Applies the basic laws of UX to their work and can communicate to art directors and clients how they informed design decisions.
  • Displays the ability to design in a variety of styles while maintaining brand guidelines that are unique to every client.
  • Talented visual designer that can create original designs from scratch and provide expert creative and technical direction on the overall concept, look, feel, and function of their work.
  • Consistently maintains internal design processes and expectations that don’t require multiple technical revisions.
  • Acts as an extension of staff to DMO clients to help create design assets that include but are not limited to: website design, digital or print design, and/or logo and brand design.
  • Operates effectively under clear deadlines to ensure delivery of assets that are under budget, on time, and meet internal and external expectations.
  • Maintains organizational detail in their work, such as; design notes, mood boards, clean file structure, and work that is free of error.
  • Able to conceptualize ideas in creative brainstorming sessions with creative leadership and other XD or Granicus team members to generate new ideas and a path forward.
  • Completes time entries daily to ensure proper tracking of project scope/completion, budget, and personal capacity.
  • Organizes and prepares final artwork and thinks about functional and technical production in order to collaborate with front-end and CMS developers.
  • Able to manage their time to juggle multiple projects with strict deadlines, be proactive when seeking feedback or collaboration, and can act as a team player to assist or support other designers when necessary.
  • Capable of producing compelling artwork like icons, illustrations, patterns, and maps.
