Roles & Responsibilities

Bachelor's degree required with focus on construction trades, agriculture-related studies, business administration or insurance-related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
Minimum ten years multi-line or property claim field experience.
Expert knowledge of insurance contracts and proficiency in estimating systems (e.g., Xactimate), Microsoft Office, and construction requirements and methods.
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record and professional designations (INS, AIC); CPCU preferred; access to high-speed Internet at home.

Requirements:

Investigate, evaluate and control property claims under minimal supervision.
Maintain up-to-date advanced knowledge of building construction, repair costs and methods, repair-estimating systems, and scoping damages, as well as farm machinery, livestock, and home furnishings.
Ensure claims are properly investigated, evaluated and resolved within contractual and legal obligations, with timely service and appropriate resolutions.
Provide quality service to insureds and aid in the retention of business.

OBJECTIVE:

Property Claims Specialist Objective

To assure and be accountable for the consistent application of company procedures and practices in commercial, residential, farm property and property damage liability claim handling of large losses, so as to have a significant and positive overall effect on the company. To provide quality service to insureds and aid in the retention of business. To ensure that claims are properly investigated, evaluated and resolved within the company's contractual and legal obligations. To ensure timely service, while providing appropriate and equitable resolution to insureds, claimants and the company.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Property Claims Specialist Responsibilities

Investigate, evaluate and control claims under minimal supervision.

Maintain up-to-date advanced knowledge of various types of buildings, construction, repair cost and methods, repair-estimating system and scoping damages.

Maintain up-to-date advanced knowledge of farm machinery, livestock and home furnishings.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Property Claims Specialist Qualifications

Required

Bachelor’s degree required with focus on construction trades, agriculture-related studies, business administration or insurance related field preferred, or equivalent experience may be considered.

Minimum ten years multi-line or property claim field experience required.

Experienced computer usage and proven skills in Microsoft Office products required.

Expert knowledge of insurance contracts written by the companies required.

Working knowledge of company and divisional policies and procedures required.

Knowledge of and/or exposure to farming and agriculture industry required.

Must possess outstanding listening and superior customer service skills.

Working knowledge of estimating systems (i.e., Xactimate), and construction requirements and methods required.

Must have access to high speed Internet at home.

Must possess a valid driver license with an acceptable driving record.

Designations in INS, AIC and/or similar professional insurance designation required.

Preferred

Designation in CPCU preferred.

Note: This is a work from home (in Micigan) position convering the Northen Michigan territory. Ideal candidates would live in Grand Traverse, Antrim, Emmet, Otsego, Benzie or Crawford County in Michigan.
