About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated engineer to join our Platform Application Services team. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain high-impact tools that enhance developer productivity, automate workflows, and reduce duplication across teams. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their needs, build scalable solutions, and ensure the reliability of our shared utilities. What You’ll Do

  • Develop and Maintain Scalable Tools: Build internal services and utilities that support large-scale product development.

  • Drive Efficiency: Identify and consolidate redundant tools to streamline engineering efforts across the organization.

  • Automate Workflows: Create automated processes to eliminate repetitive tasks and boost developer productivity.

  • Collaborate Broadly: Work closely with engineering and product teams to deliver impactful, shared solutions.

  • Set the Standard: Establish and enforce best practices for the development, deployment, and maintenance of internal platform services.

  • Ensure Reliability: Drive improvements in performance, security, and reliability, including participating in an on-call rotation for Tier-0 services.

  • Innovate & Mentor: Explore emerging technologies to enhance our platform and provide technical guidance to team members.

What You’ll Bring

  • Experience: 5+ years of software development experience with a track record of building internal tools and automation.

  • Technical Proficiency: Strong skills in one or more languages, specifically Golang, JavaScript, TypeScript, or Node.js.

  • Systems Thinking: Deep understanding of software architecture, microservices, and maintainability best practices.

  • Automation Mindset: A proactive approach to identifying inefficiencies and solving them through code.

  • Operational Excellence: Experience with CI/CD pipelines, monitoring tools, and maintaining high-availability services.

  • Communication: Excellent documentation skills and a passion for knowledge sharing across teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with gRPC and microservices architectures.

  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and containerization.

  • Experience deploying and managing services within AWS and/or Azure.

Below is the annual salary range for candidates located in Canada. Your actual salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, and experience. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental, and vision insurance, RRSP with a match, healthcare spending, telemedicine, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies. The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in Canada is between:
$136,000$187,000 CAD
